Anyone of you either live in the sunshine state of good ol FL that would love to meet up and run some tests? Or any of you experienced guys who have a ton of extra guns mind letting a fellow enthusiast borrow one? If no to both where can i purchase some to run some tests?

UPDATE: I also realized I have access to a temperature gun at work that I assume works off of a laser type set up. Should that be able to set off the laser on my R3?

No. An IR thermometer will not work. The laser in the device is simply a 650nm laser diode for pointing and the RD will most likely be blind to it. If you want to get radars, check ebay. That's where I picked up my X & K-band units and eventually a Ka device. There are a TON of sports radar guns to be had, but if you add some filtering, you'll get to the LEO variety.

eBay or the classified section here for purchase, though there are a bunch of folks in Florida that have stuff... What part of the state are you in, maybe someone nearby that can hit you with a laser gun

I live in Tampa and I travel all through the state every week. I always carry the compact dragon with me. I will be more than happy to help anyone test their ALPs.

If you are ever over the Jupiter or PSL area let me know. I know the dragon will eat my dual for dinner but would be interesting to see exactly how it does. I am going to add a third head soon

I can do most weekdays, before or after work or at lunch time. If you want weekends I live a little farther north but we could meetup somewhere. I don't have any radar guns yet, but I can test your laser detection. If you are encountering laser frequently though I would really recommend ALP, it's super sensitive and actually provide protection when hit as opposed to just notification that you were hit and will be getting a ticket if you were speeding. RD's are good for Radar, need something specialized for laser protection

@Patton250 is an excellent member to test with. Hopefully you guys can meet up.

You post count is probably too low for anyone to lend you out anything. Hang around here and get your post count up and people get to know you there are some members that will lend out equipment but you'll have to insure it. In the meantime as previously posted, eBay and this forum is a good spot find equipment.

One of the advantages of owning your own guns is you can do "maintenance" testing to make sure you setup stays in tune. Especially those with 3M tape mounts on uneven surfaces where the pitch and toe might shift during the season or just washing the car.

I don't see point using Lidar to test RD... Best filtering and sensitivity I saw it is with V1...
With R3 I got only falses... never real alert... It is useless ... You need ALP if you want to deal with Lidar...

Radar can be bought from other members or police auctions. The prices on handheld radar aren't too bad.

As for Lidar, the prices for the latest models are too high, I'd rather drive out to other members in the area and throw them some beer money for testing.

    I would second @radarrob , also @chakeubeam has some.

I also have a ATR 34.7 with moving mode I recently bought of here that I don't need, but no handle. @radarrob could sell you one if you wanted.

    Ebay as others have mentioned.

Also, this could be cheap and easy, and also slightly useful if you get ALPs ever
