I’ve had enough! My normal drive (27 miles) is making me crazy w my K band alerts. I am using the original Redline w a SmartCord live and Waze in the foreground (Escort Live in the background, full subscription). I really tried hard to use the lockout feature, but felt like I was using it every 5 miles. I only recall getting hit once w K band in the past 6 months.

Anyone else shut off K band entirely? I now rely on Waze ‍♂️

If you add more and more lockouts, did you notice a performance degradation?

    No Ka segment
    TSR on
    RDR off
    Mirror mount on sedan

If I was running a RedlineO I would turn K off also. Lockouts will not have any effect on range.
EscortLive is free. Are you talking about their redlight camera subscription maybe?
I would run City/TSR On to squeeze as much "filtering" as I could for K band.
Ka seg increases performance and has no bearing on K band false alerts.

It really depends on where you live and what they run in your area. I have come across legit Kband traps in my area multiple times in the last couple months, So can't turn off Kband, instead I got a detector that has good filtering (uniden R1 or R3) and it's really quiet on Kband falses.

Wait....so I don’t need to pay for Escort Live to get the same Live Alerts?

I turned off K Band on my 9500ci like a year ago... doesn't matter that local LEO uses K-Band I never paid attention to it after a while... useless

When I was running my M3 (STI magnum), I turned off K band as it was also driving me crazy,I became numb to K alerts and NYSP don't use K band but Now that I am running the R series (the filtering is much better) I leave it on (as my locals do use K band). Night in day in terms of K band filtering performance between M3's and Uniden R series.

K band is in use 49/50 states
In small local areas you can turn K band sensitivity down
    Not off imo

Technology has brought us detectors that meet and exceed M3 range with Bsm filtering gps lockouts and quiet ride for new areas

The question isnt should i shut K band off because you stopped listening to alerts

The question is why havnt you sold the Redline and bought a modern detector

I would never turn off K band.

Lock outs will not effect performance when used with LIVE.

If K band is off TSR on is not needed, you should se a slight increase in Ka band performance with K band off.

I would run the RedLine with K band on, TSR on and Auto mode. Better than having it off.

Yes you do for live alerts, but you don't have to pay if you only want lock outs.

Yes, when I ran my Redline Original several months ago (for comparison purposes) for the first time in a long time, it was falsing like crazy on K (thanks to BSM). My wife counted (I was driving) something like 60 K falses on one trip (not sure if round trip or one way anymore, bad either way).
By contrast my RL-EX on the other side of my windshield (which I since returned to Escort for a refund) was super quiet on K thanks to firmware 1.3 (had it on LoK and Auto) falsed only 4 or 5 times or so (4 or 5 might even have been round trip count).

Too bad the Redline-Ex isn't better on range like the RL-O. Other than lack of arrows (and Ka range, as noted), the RL-EX has it all - new amazing mag mount (so easy to remove and mount), automatic lockouts, MRCD/MRCT/Gatso detection, solid build quality and mature appearance (less toy-like than other detectors) and good laser detection (falses too much on laser though).
As others have said, if it had more competitive Ka detection, Escort would have a winner on its hands.

What lockout feature are you trying to use? You do understand that you cannot lockout moving BSM false K band alerts right? If Escort live does have a GPS based lockout feature that works with non-GPS based detectors it will ONLY lockout fixed location false K band signals.

Did you try Auto mode, in addition to turning TSR on? That has reduced BSM falsing for me. I would never turn K band off if they were using K band radar at all where I drive. If the K band falsing is that bad even with TSR + Auto it is time for another RD.

So far Escort has not charged anything to use live. Now there is a fee for the defender data base.

Correct. I turned TSR on and Auto mode. It helped, but I get a crazy amount of K still. Guessing it’s BSM. Noticed it more when I was behind GM vehicles.

I turned it off since I wasn’t paying attention to it anyways. I wish there was a feature to mute all K band alerts (but still allow Ka)

K is sparse in my area
I run an R3 which did okay at 70% K K filter on
But still got GM/Honda corp PTs which is alot of vehicles
I changed to 80% K K filter on TSF on (same as tsr)
With my lockouts in place i never get falses except 100ft back from acuras and Buicks which goes away after a blip or two

And now you see first hand what a tremendous problem this is with these new car systems. Older detectors from all manufacturers are pretty much worthless unless you live in an area that has no K band enforcement. Then you can just turn K band off, our city is about 90% K band so that's not an option.

I hope you saw in my earlier post that you cannot "lock out" moving BSM false signals on any brand GPS based detector or with Escort live. Your only option is to purchase a new detector that has good K band filtering sorry to say.

I updated my Max 360 to the newest 1.3 firmware a few weeks ago and turned K band back on. It went from having K falses every 5 minutes to having them every 10 minutes. While a marked improvement it's still really annoying so I gave up and turned it back off a few days ago. Luckily I live in a large metro area that doesn't use K so I'll only be turning it on when I venture out into the smaller towns.
