You can probably imagine how stoked I am at being able to update it aha!

Had 2 bites on KA on my trip to taupo, one went off on a 90 degree corner in the middle of feilds while he was at a roundabout, not much notice but not the best conditions, and other bite going past meremere where idk where the cop was but it was a strong signal lol

I'll post it in the Escort forum now

mmm, yeah that sounds odd. I would have thought the 2 stores are related, and importing from the same place.

    Hey @spudtatoe,

How long did it takes yours to update ?

Mine took the same amount of time to update as it does when i do it via vpn. it took less than 10 seconds, and i got the same message as you.

At this stage, i am thinking that i have seen this before. Until i do i drive by i suspect that the download happened to fast, and i still have no GPS database. :(

Mine updated pretty damn quick, maybe like 15-20 seconds.. didn't really pay attention haha. I'll go for a drive shortly and see if it notifys me of the mahia road one.

    Hey @spudtatoe,

On your Redline EX, in the settings, do you have MRCD, MRCT and GATSO? as option you can scan for ?

Cool, i have them on my detector. i think i might have a story for the forum...

There has been some discussion on whether or not there are actually any differences between the so called american EX anf the International.

Most of the Kiwi crew on the forum know my story about have to send the original RedlineEX back to the USA for repair, when it returned i was sent a replacement.
When i sent the first one back, i forgot to send the instructions, so i still have the instructions for the original Redline EX that i got in first release batch, and i have instructions for the one that was returned. they have Different menu options, the First one does not have MRCD & T, nor Gatso ...

Have a look at the file i have attached, the top set of instructions are the ones i have now, the bottom are from the one that was in the first batch released.

Supposedly we heard this time that there is no difference between the North American model and the Intl model regarding menu options and detection capabilities (i.e one model for all markets).

Whether different serial numbers are geo locked to a region to justify the increased AU/NZ pricing is another matter - AUD 1,199 lol - obviously you get the local RLC database, but I have Waze for that and my memory :)

Check the serial no's - the Redline O-Intl's use to start with the first two digits different to the Redline NA's

    Hey @winterbrew , that's a valid point, i knew that but didn't think....

I'll try to do this without directly quoting serial numbers.

My first EX, definitely for the US market, was from the first initial release. serial started 842*****( manufactured within the first 250 units)
The warranty replacement EX, serial starting 842***** ( manufactured within the first 250 - 400 units)
@spudtatoe 's EX has been purchased locally(nz), I imagine intended for the AU/NZ market, his serial also starts 842***** (Manufactured between unit number 1800 - 2000)

At this time it would appear that there is no clear market separation I guess and maybe Escort realised the instruction manuals were incomplete and did an update/reprint?

Maybe @PointerCone can offer a contribution on this, maybe verify his first few digits, as he is on his second US EX....

    Hey @spudtatoe,

    Good news...

I drove past a speed camera this morning, The local GPS database has loaded to my US imported Redline EX.

I now have a fully functioning Redline EX, stand alone, no need for Escort live anymore.

I'm Stoked. The Uniden is going to sit on the shelf now, its time to get some detection footage with the EX. :)

    Hey @spudtatoe, check this out....

You and i exchanged serial numbers last night as you remember, neither of our detectors serial started with 96.

We have a Kazakhstan brother asking Escort what version is his detector, US or international, below is what escort told him. So based on that, ours are not international... But you had been told by Escort the Detector Tools Pro had an issue with international models, so if ours are not international, and it turns out they aren't geo-locked either... wtf

So Escort was either bullsh1tting you, or bullsh1tting the Kazakstan owner...

If it looks like BS... smells like BS.... then you know where i'm heading....

Its taken me over six months to get mine almost fully functional, i think i'll stop trying now, it works, i don't know what the true story is regarding regions and geo-locking. What i do know is we've had al ot of inconsistent BS from Escort.

    upload_2018-1-15_17-51-8.

    @PointerCone FYI
