I have been using Waze for the last 6 months and I’m pretty happy with it. I use it for the map and alerts. No navigation routing. Its behavior just recently changed and I was wondering if this is normal. I used to jump in the car, start the app, and drive away. It would start by going directly to the map and show my current location as I drive. Perfect, just like my dedicated GPS. Now I jump in the car, start the app, drive away, and it starts yelling at me about starting a route. I don’t want a route! I get irritated and start yelling back (like wtf. Shut up)and start poking at the buttons trying to get to just go to the map. It may have started after an update. I tried deleting my saved work and home address hoping that would help. I’m not finding any settings that would effect it. I am using an android phone, Waze version 4.34.0.1. Why is it doing this ? Is it normal ? Very annoying indeed. O, and the fact that the app can’t seem to remember my prolife pic no matter what I do. That has been a known issue for years. It’s not rocket science. Maybe they should consult with Uniden on how to handle customer relations. Please let me know if there is a way to get it back to the old way. Thanks

Mine always does that depending on the time I start the app. What is funny is it is pretty accurate at predicting where I plan to go in the morning.

I don't consider it routing me to home at 6-8pm smart though as most people head home at those times.

I use the routing because it gives me a brief overview of the alerts I might incur on the way. I know when heading home if I see the police icon I know the cop is in his usual hiding spot

It's scary... every other week on one particular weekday I leave Work and go somewhere that is not my Home. And Waze knows THAT.

Inside google maps is a way to erase your location info

You have a map of everywhere every address you went with your phone
Waze knows because its owned by google

Great link Pete. I’ve always hated that function. I’m surprised they don’t have a toggle in the settings for that.

It was checked. I'll see how it responds over the next couple of days and keep you posted. Thanks for the tip (that's what she said).

Good news ! Waze and I are aren’t yelling at each other anymore. The relationship is on the mend. It has been a few days and it hasn’t auto started any routes. Thank you Pete78 for the suggestion to check the “ allow auto suggestion for destinations” setting on the dashboard. I never checked that box in the first place, not sure how it became enabled. Maybe after an update. As others have noted, all settings should be available from within the app. Be safe. Thanks.
