The wife and I travelled US Highway 165 from Monroe, La to Alexandria, La Saturday and had multiple radar encounters. I recently installed a BlackVue 750S 2CH in my Ford F350 and was able to collect a couple of radar hits along the way. The first was a Ka encounter over a bridge at Georgetown, LA, in which I mute the audio alert once we spot LEO. The second was a very low intensity K encounter in Tullos, LA. The K encounter was of such low intensity, my wife spotted the LEO before we got a hit on the Magnum. I use the terms short wave and short beam interchangeably in describing the low intensity K band encounter in the video, but i do realize the frequency or wavelength does not change, only the strength of the signal. Please excuse all the chatter in the videos. The wife and I were talking about K band falsing and the notoriety of some of the towns along the way and their long history of speed traps... Enjoy!

Thank you for the videos. Any reason this is posted in general, and not RWV?

I happened upon your video and really enjoyed them. I have family that still live in the Georgetown / Tullos / Winnfield areas and lived there a number of years myself. This area is probably the main reason I purchased my first radar detector.

Twenty five or more years ago we could call the Georgetown officer on CB Channel 19 when we were rolling into town and would ask him for a speed check. If he was out, he would oblige us. Oh one other thing... if he did pull you over for speeding, he would often just call you on the bull horn and tell you to walk back to his car so he could hand you the ticket. He was a larger fella, and this was easier than him trying to get in and out of the patrol car.

I'm very familiar with that stretch. I'm down in Monroe/WM pretty often.
That was a solid Ka detection over the overpass, but that K detection is weird. I would be surprised if there was low power K band in use in a small town like that. Maybe it was just I/O.
Thanks for sharing!
