I created a thread for it elsewhere, but are there any recommendations? Have to go to Hondo for the courthouse, it seems, unless I take defensive driving. No lo contendre in exchange for deferred adjudication, maybe? Never gotten a ticket like this before.

I’d just take defensive driving since all my stop sign violations were on dash cam. Did you run or roll it? Where/how was he positioned?

Maybe @erickonphoenix has had luck fighting a designated stop violation.. I do know it’s around a $175-$225 infraction in most Texas counties with 2 points on your record. You might have to bite the bullet and fight another day. The plea bargain will be around $165-$175 at the end of the day if you decide to go that route.

Take defensive driving. Court cost + $25 for online DD. They'll make you pay entire ticket cost and take DD if you go deferred route. I know how it works in Lubbock. My 20 year old got 2 speeding tickets within 3 months.

Ugh. I was hoping to save defensive driving for if I get popped by Lidar or something, or some super slick trap I fall for. Ah well. Sounds like the best idea.

Are you over 25? See if you can get a deferred without a driver safety course. Save the driver safety course for when you really need it, like if you get a ticket (in another jurisdiction) while you are on deferred.

That’s what I’m considering as well. Right now the fee is $160. Taking a driver safety course to dismiss it requires $110 (minimum) to the courts, plus my time to take them all the stuff or gather it all and mall it to them, and then my time and whatever it costs to do the course itself and then certified mail the results to the court.

I’d rather pay the $160 and get 60 says deferred or whatever, I think, especially if I can get it all done at once. I’m going to order my driving record first anyway as it should be clean, maybe help sway the prosecutor/clerk/judge.

Man your title confused me... I thought you are talking about ALP TX sensors, and NET DSP (I know it says DPS)
I was like what these two have with stop sign... lol

Show up and ask the judge for "Discretionary Defensive Driving"... this is reserved for minor violations where the course can be offered if the violator has already used a defensive driving course during the calendar year. You can't use it for your insurance but you can to dismiss a ticket. It's up to the judge to decide if you can use it but if your record is clean and the judge is friendly you might get it. It's a free DSC opportunity.

I mean it could have just been really bad timing/luck and he was leaving at the time having already eaten lunch. Didn’t even have his radar going. This guy doesn’t usually get on QT type I/O, but I think maybe he was just lying in wait and being super selective while bored.

    Ugh ugh ugh.

PS He probably would’ve let it slide except I was already pushing up to 10 over and accelerating steadily when he hit the XMIT button and I stabbed the brakes.
