Happy New Years Eve day to everyone....

I want to thank everyone for welcoming me back after a long hiatus. I also want to send out a special thank you to @Vortex for putting such an awesome website together.

I have been wanting a good dashcam setup for a long time and have been researching a ton about them over the past several weeks. Well just the other night my wife was asking what the heck I am researching again and I told her dashcams. Two nights ago I showed her the "why you should get a dashcam" type videos on vortexradar.com and without hesitation she said I should look into getting them not only for my car but two others in the "stable".

So I refuse to get into the paralysis by analysis quandry that happens and have decided to go with the Blackvue's across the board for three of our cars.

I don't really know how long it will be before Blackvue comes out with the 900S so I will be getting a 750S 2 channel and then most likely going with the newly announced 590 2 channel (although still considering the 650 2ch) for the other two vehicles. I will also be going with a battery back up such (looking at CellinkB) for one of the vehicles I daily drive with to work.

There are still some "winter sales" yet so I will probably be spending the evening with a cold beer (or two) and doing the last of my research before purchasing.

The need for the battery backup for two of the cars really isn't at the top of my list right now and would simply be "nice to haves". The wifi though is something that I would use regularly but not sure if my wife would.

That is where the dilemma is between the 650 and the 590.

One final question for you blackvue owners......in the blackvue software viewer, can you see your location on a map when using that (assuming of course I have GPS or the antenna in the case of the 590).

So that's my New Years Eve Day resolution....crap or get off the pot....LOL

    Mike :)

PS be safe out there tonight!

Congrats! Thank you for the kind words as well. It’s a good way to cap off the year, knowing my hard work and effort this year is benefitting others. :)

As for the BlackVue viewer, yeah, you can see your location on a map in software. Another fun bonus is that even if you disable GPS in the dashcam so it doesn’t show your speed on video, you can still go back later and see your location on the map or see your speed and see how big of a save you got. ;)

    Thanks Vortex.

The only issue that I may run into is the rear tint in our Macan and our Audi.

They are both pretty dark at 27%. Have you done any testing with the rear cameras and tint?

The removal of the GPS speed from the videos may be something I will turn off knowing that I can still see it in the viewer! I tend to be a bit on the "heavy" side with the skinny pedal... ;)

I've got a 25% tint in my Miata and the 750 works well out the back of it. :) Tint and lack of headlights both can make it harder on rear dashcams, not to mention the rear cameras usually are less sensitive than the front ones, but luckily the 750's night time sensitivity is really good which should help compensate for the tint on you vehicles.

    That's what I was hoping.

Do you happen to know if the 650 series does OK with rear tint? The 750 will be going into another vehicle that doesn't have tint issues.

It's fine in the daytime but it struggles at night.

I run a 650GW with 8% tint. Does fine during the day but can't distinguish much at night. I could get you some samples tomorrow if you'd like to see night and daytime performance

Sure System that would be terrific! Night isn't really that much of an issue as my wife is the primary driver of the Audi and the Macan and her commutes are 90% during the daylight hours.

We decided to get one 750 2ch setup for one of the vehicles first. I went through Black Box My Car and it arrived early this week. I have some fuse taps and miscellaneous other non car related stuff coming from Amazon tomorrow. I am going to attempt to set it up with the Power Magic Pro on Sunday most likely.

I'll do my best to take a some pictures and maybe a couple of videos to show the installation. Cant wait!

Can you guys elaborate on why you would choose a Blackvue over a Thinkware?

I am familiar with BlackVue and have buddies that have run them for a long time. Also in some of our vehicles, I prefer the way the BlackVue products work.

I don't think you could go wrong with a thinkware based on the reviews though. I also do not like adhering things to the windshield if possible.

Still seeing if this 750 2 channel will work for us. Right now struggling on install and some video issues. Not because the product is bad whatsoever....just trying to get things "nice and tidy"....LOL
