That is a possibility. But I think it's also within reason to think that I got enough functionality out of the old LI's that I slowed down enough to get below the threshold. Timing (and distance) are huge factors and yeah, I may not be so lucky if I'm in the IPT range.

--- DOUBLEPOST MERGED ---

It's not a matter of "if" but when. When I get new system, it'll go on my M3 vs my Acura though. Still content (and still getting saves) with my end-of-life LIs where I travel.
Yeah I am secure in my LI's myself. No system is 100%. Not LI's not ALP's. Nothing. But your in the same state I am and we are good to go with the 8.20's.

Drive safe.

If you got hit with a modern day compact running LI 8.20's
You should just wire a gramophone on the front of all your cars

It will have the same testing numbers
Exactly....the key word is "IF" I got hit. I know the threat around me and my travel routes. Although I'm a CM fan like everyone else on here (which includes ALP et al and the technology itself), I'm not a big enough ALP fanboy to pull the trigger on the purchase since there's no need to for me to....yet. I have a functioning (albeit aging) system that still works and delivers results for me...and that's the biggest data point that's relevant. On a related note, I think it's great a lot of people have legit personal favorites for CM gear on here and are willing to share info (a strength of this forum)...but I also find it interesting and a bit unfortunate how there are some occasional instances of dialogue and comments that get spun around so that the original goal of helping the OP diminishes and it morphs into more of knocking what gear people are running and a blanket copy and paste response of "just upgrade to ALPs". (my perception only of course, based on perusing postings). A shout out again to everyone who has taken the time to share meaningful info. Drive safely.

Exactly - if the threat isn't there, no need to change. This is a great site but there's a lot of bandwagon jumping regarding products. By the way, GO ARMY!

I agree with you. I would have kept my LI's but they didn't work against the XLR too well. Plus there were no more units in production in case there was a need for more sensors, etc. I didn't 'jump the bandwagon' just to get a new system. Trust me, If I would have stayed with LI's they would still be on my car. Although the lack of overseas support and production led to the fall of the product.

Plus I was getting Ultralyte falses while sitting in traffic one day. After that, it often kept coming as I was driving.

Not that I need anything but am curious. I see the LI Distributer in Australia is selling the new 3.5 CPU and 9.0 heads....
www.radars.com.au: Laser Only Systems, The Radar Shop
I wonder if these new heads or even if you needed parts could come from these guys?

I wouldn't say that these are 'NEW' because the CPU is at least 5 years old and the heads are 4 years old in technology. There hasn't been any update in the CPU or heads since then. But it looks like Australia has the legacy stuff there which would make LI's still good. But not sure if this is old inventory or not.

Looks like China still has them. www.laser-interceptorasia.com though, I should call over there to see if they still have them in stock or not. :)

I run the 8.9 units with 8.20 software. I have my sun sensitivity low and unknown guns checked on as well. I get more sun falses, with this setting, but laser sensitivity is awesome!! Locally, my laser interceptor does detect and jam laser ally in eccm, and dragon eyes in non eccm for sure. As the cops are nice here and let you see thier equipment if you ask or walk by ,say hi and simply observe. But now, they have started using the tru speed binocular style lidars. The 8.20 detected and jams it too. Dragon eye is not popular because the "name" sounds stupid to purchase and police dont like products with funny names. Especially in court, you tell the judge, my dragon caught this guy. Only if eccm is active will you be in trouble. Dragon is shipped with eccm off, according to a trooper and they are told not to use any "special mode" settings including eccm mode, obstruction mode etc as this can complicate a traffic ticket trial.

Same configuration I run friend. Yup I jam everything around here and adjoining States. Paid $200 for the quad system about 4-5 years ago. All 4 up front in my Cheby Truck :) Has never let me down.
Most if not all departments around here are broke as hell and not buying anything new. More importantly most Commanders don't like laser for traffic enforcement. Takes one of their assets out of commission as they cant patrol and shoot laser at the same time. They don't like that. They can fill up their donation bucket with cheap K Band guns while rolling all day everyday.

The plus is the convenient kill switch. I can kill it without spilling my Bloody Mary.

I hope it's a new system and not just a current product rebranded...
