Not sure the amount of following this would get. Is there a need for it?

I like the idea, but I think it would be a pretty dead forum. Maybe make one and move all of the previous motorcycle threads. The only time I see any motorcycle stuff, it’s rehashing what’s in old threads, which I usually will still participate.

I always had them on my motorcycles. I'm sure there is more of a following than we think. There would be ideas on hacking speakers to BT dongles etc. I don't know. Could maybe try it and dismantle it if it doesn't take off.

I know there's a group of active users that we use RD's on motorcycles (maybe 10 or so of us?)
Every once in a while someone will open a thread asking RD moto related questions and then the thread dies, only to start over again.

Perhaps a sticky moto thread would be better suited?

Though i use a RD on my bike im not sure if we need a separate sub section.
If a thread is created most who have a bike will respond.
Although i always like to see the creative ideas everyone has who rides!

Maybe just a general Motorcycling section like "Motorcycle Discussion" section would be a good start. I know as a rider I enjoy sharing riding videos and some of the tips other riders share about their installs I find very helpful.

I know I'm new here, but I like the idea of a motorcycle related thread or sticky. Would like to see how to build something similar to what "nutnfancy" has on YouTube. Where his RD mount collapses into the tank bag to quickly secure it.

Well we've definitely had sections for much less worthy causes (i.e. Veil) so I'll bring this up with the rest of the leadership - we're pretty much out of the design phase for the new website and are getting down to polishing so ideas like these definitely qualify to at least be discussed.

I’m not sure how active it would be, but it would make easy reference for newbies.

It would definitely make repeat posts disappear. I've seen several identical motorcycle radar posts and I'm a relatively new member.

Cool cool, it's always good to hear from the newer generation of forum members (not IRL age) because a lot of us have been here since the beginning and we look at things through a different prism for that reason and whatever we can do to make this place more user friendly for the newer members is a must, IMO. So absolutely speak up if you ever have any other suggestions or criticisms - I promise you won't be dismissed outright (unless it's something we've already discussed @ the leadership level and addressed).

Yes, please.

We need a motorcycle section.
We need a place where motorcyclists can discuss CMs with other motorcyclists.
We need a place to show-off out installs and discuss the technicals.

I think, a simple motorcycle specific sub-section could suffice.

All info is scattered all over the place and we have to dig really deep into specific sub-forums to find the info about RD/LJ setups and tests and even after all of that, it's still unclear.

Motorcycles have a very specific installations that do not compare to cars (lean angles, hard accelerations and deceleration, passengers, ect) all greatly affect the line of sight of our countermeasures.

I have been lurking these forums for about 9 years before deciding to purchase a LJ for my bike, had there been a specific sub-section, I might of have purchased my CMs long before.

CMs are discussed on all motorcycle forums I have visited, but we need a more centralized place to do so when it comes to specifics.

And IMO, RDF is the place where this should be done.

Much appreciated,
Jon

Not a new set of eyes here for perspective, but I'm planning on picking a bike up in the spring and would like to mount a RD up in it as well as some other goodies. I've noticed not much at all, general or specific, related to bikes on here. I'll probably be posting some installs and such that I do when i get around to it.

Is there a way to tag threads in the install section with specific tags (ie car, truck, motorcycle, Rd, etc) maybe this could fix some issues as well as not splitting things up even more?

Where automotive RD installs are fairly generic (mirror mounts, suction cups, etc.), motorcycles are somewhat unique. Yeah, there's only a few places for them to be installed on a bike, but now the trick of RD interaction comes into play.

There's a ton of "how I mounted" posts here in various automotive applications, which helps the vast majority of the readers.

Thus, the moto specific area would be rather small, but many of the pertinent discussions of general RD topics - in relation to motorcycles - would be in a clearly defined space.

Mod staff would then move appropriate posts to this area if posted in more general locations.

Topic should be rated at the general user level, in my opinion.

Thanks for the consideration.

I just bought another motorcycle and my wife bought a 2019 Spyder F3-S (That thing is a blast to roast tires sideways up the road). I will be looking to add RDs to both of these (and maybe Laser Jammers).

Maybe a subforum under general radar detectors that for motorcycles rather than it's own section?
