Hey guys has anyone sent in a STI Driver for an upgrade to magnum model?

I have a escort x50 now and sti driver. The X50 wins and was wondering is it worth the 99 to upgrade my Driver to magnum model.

Comes with 1 year warranty, new plastic casing (opt to keep aluminum case if wanted), and new software TSR/BS added.

Suggestions?

@SuperFreak95 Hundreds have, including three myself. Best upgrade one can do to get the BSRDR firmware. Turns the Sti/Driver into a monster, some as good as the Redline BSRDR. After the upgrade, you'll say to yourself, "X50 who??? Keep the original case too, much nicer and classic than new one.

I have had a redline before it was amazing. Someone offered me too much money for it I said yes. I was debating spending the money and about the case. Thanks for the help

and write a note that you want to keep the wire bonded LNAs (so they don't give you packaged LNAs) @NPark

Some good info in here regarding the upgrade, thank you! I have an old Driver that has been back once for service but never upgraded. Might do that now.

Why would we want to keep the wire bonded LNAs?

Anything before about May 09 should be wirebonded, so you should be good.

The wirebonded LNA is slightly more sensitive than the packaged LNA. And actually, they shouldn't replace the board with the LNA unless there is something wrong with it, in which case you might get a packaged LNA back, but I'd rather have a packaged LNA that works right than a wirebonded LNA that doesn't.

They pushed for me to take plastic case and use new lna. I reassured them I wanted magnesium case and wire bonded to stay. Why do they push for newer?

And how does it perform now?

Do you guys get a lot of false positives with the upgrade on blind spot sensors on the new vehicles?

Can you upgrade your magnum through Detector Tools for Bs/ RdR or does it have to be sent to Escort?

Spoke with Escort Customer Service yesterday and was informed the upgrade program for the Beltronic STI Driver was discontinued at the beginning of this year and the product is no longer serviced. They recommended trading in my perfectly good STI Driver and receiving a $120 credit towards a $600 Redline EX which is what they quoted me for replacing the STI Driver if my primary goal was to minimize false alerts from BSM. Spoke with their Sales area and was told they would only credit $80 towards a STI Driver trade in.

Escort can go pound sand. I'll spend my $ on a Radenso Pro M and keep the STI Driver as a backup.

Ok just got my STI Driver back yesterday 11/11/18 sent it in for volume problem and auto brightness wasn't working. Got it back within a week. I also asked to have it upgradedto Magnum when I talked to customer service to send it in, they said that they didn't upgrade programming in the Driver anymore. Of course it was $99.95 for the repair with a 90 day warranty. When I received it back I was pleasantly surprised that it was upgrade by the Tech to a Magnum. I have always have had good luck with Bel service and have been a customer of theirs for more years then I care to admit.
The Tech replaced all the switch's put on new screen and also of course tuned and recalibrated it. So I guess I will continue to use their products.
I now have a Driver that is upgraded and a Magnum (one for each of my vehicles) So I will be retiring my 995 that still works as good as the day I bought it.
