Hey you guys so i just got myself a brand new civic SI. I like it alot and I love having android auto... but i have a problem. When I'm using android auto with yav1 it'll still open up yav1 on my phone but no visual or voice alerts will come through, which i really need because unfortunately here in califorina we do tend to get a lot of false ka alerts and I know chp only uses 34.7 so im not sure what I should do here because i am slowing down way to often in a car that I want to have fun and go fast in.. does anyone have any suggestions? Only thing i could think of is get a dedicated display which i really don't want to do, mount my phone just so i can view yav1, which is kinda contradicting to the reason I have android auto, or just don't use yav1 which i don't want to do ethier because what's the point in having it then. Any help is very much appreciated

You should get audio if the car's audio source is set to Android Auto.

If not, then go to YaV1 Settings > Sound > and check the box for "Play alerts through phone" and it will use your phones speaker to play any sounds.

A dedicated phone is alot easier than you may think though. I much prefer that method. Stays in the car, comes on and off automatically, nothing to ever touch or worry about, and don't have to share the display with other apps/functions.

I like the idea of a dedicated phone, just not having it in my car and having valuables along with my detector in my car. I have set the audio to device and for some reason it doesn't make a sound on android auto only when its on Bluetooth or if both are off, it's super weird

When I was playing around with AA on my VW I had to either use the car as an audio media device (which I didn't like doing because I didn't always have AA up or the stereo on the media input, which meant missing phone notifications from YaV1/Waze, so I ultimately disabled it) or I would configure YaV1 to play through the phone's speaker so I always got the alerts.

I'll double check to make sure I'm remembering right, but I'm pretty sure those settings should work.

BTW - awesome car!

So I have to use the regular Bluetooth then?

I found this guy running an aftermarket android head unit and YaV1. I am not sure if the stock system in your car will work the same or how well this works. I do plan on trying this within a month or so and making a detailed post about the process and how well it works.

That would be awesome ! All I want is atleast the sound to come through so i know if a ka alert is 34.7 or not having an overlay with android auto would be even better

I guess you just need to see if you can download YaV1 and go from there...

Yeah I think that these head units are not android auto and rather a full version of android. Hopefully that's the case.

I'll be testing V1Driver on Android Auto soon. You WILL get sound. I already fixed an Audio issue with iOS V1Driver on Car Play.
I just bought an OEM Radio with Android Auto/Car Play for my Jeep so I V1Driver on both platforms.

I just Tested V1Driver (Android) on Android Auto and Voice comes through fine.

Because of how of how Android Auto locks the phone screen you can't see the App.
However, V1Driver on Android 8.0/8.1 now runs as a Service when the Screen is not visible and that can show graphical status on the Notification (Like other Apps).
It doesn't have graphics on that Notification yet but it's certainly doable. Also given how V1Driver is heavily targeted towards "phone in your pocket" users, you really don't need to look at the screen or touch a button.

I tested on Android 7.0 HTC M9 and Android 8.1 Pixel. No code change :)

I can't believe you're trying to sell your app in the YaV1 section.

I can't believe you're trying to sell your app in the YaV1 section. Shameless.
I just stated what my App could or couldn't do in the context of Android Auto, just like you did.
Any Android developer can PM me and i'll happily tell them how to fix it.

P.S. I thought you blocked me.
