Probable the fact they didn't want small municipalities setting up speed traps. You see them all the time, where these places earn most of their budget from traffic fines.

If this bill goes through, I'd bank on low-powered IO. PA currently has contacts with Decatr and MPH. The Genesis GHD is a deadly K band gun....fast, feature-packed and relatively inexpensive ($600.00 new). The MPH guns are even more of a PITA because they use patch antennas. With all of the K band noise around these days, it will be very difficult to pick out LEO radar from falses in suburban areas. It is my opinion that K band came from Satan's anus.

A technicality....MPH just bought Kustom. Their evil Talons and Falcons will continue to haunt us regardless of the acquisition. I remember seeing one up close a couple of years ago....driving on 276 in PA, a couple of minor K band blips were picked up. All of a sudden, there he is, tucked in behind a berm, pointing a Talon right at me. I was at PSL so it wasn't an issue but he had me tagged if I was above the limit. This will be VERY bad news for PA drivers if it's passed, and a huge contract for MPH/Kustom.

I understand back in the early days of traffic radar, Pennsylvania did allow local municipalities to use it for speed enforcement.

From what I understand it got totally out of hand with most departments using Radar as a revenue generator for the town or municipality. The legislature was force to take Radar away from everyone except the State Police.
