Say it isn't so. I inquired about trading in my pro se for the new model, and the option for the audio output is gone. I really preferreed radenso over valentine, looks like I will only have one option in the future when/if the pro se moto is in need of replacing.

    Hi ArmyStrong,

There is a reason that so few companies have a motorcycle option - the market is not there to support it. There is a huge cost to every new sku we have to carry - carrying a motorcycle version would probably add an additional 250k of overhead just for that sku in the course of a year. Our car detectors outsold our motorcycle ones about 500:1, and we would not even recoup that initial investment - let alone ongoing costs to carry and distribute. Frankly, most guys on motorcycles don't even bother slowing down when they see a LEO - they just bend the plate up and go.

If you and other radar detector users would be willing to pay $1500 for it, than there might be a business case for it. But unfortunately, I have a feeling that would not be worth it to most consumers.

We are a small company and need to focus our resources very narrowly on improving performance and reliability of our existing detectors. We just don't have the resources to do a niche model for a niche market that we would lose money on.

    Well that was refreshing.

Someone from a manufacturer that actually takes the time to read and gives a decent answer to a legitimate question.

Hats off to you Jon for taking the time to give an honest answer. I’m sure most here appreciate it. I know I do.

Completely understandable and sad to hear. The RPSE seems like a perfect detector for a motorcycle due to it's size and off-axis capabilities.

One thing that could work is the V1 approach, keep the detector the same but add an accessory that allows audio out, something to consider if there is ever a re-design of the M. You still have only one part number, and tooling costs are a lot lower for an accessory.

Tooling costs for a single custom accessory are actually more expensive than what people think. Easily in the thousands of dollars.

The truth hurts, but at least it IS the truth. You've got to respect a vendor that'll just tell you like it is without trying to BS you.

    kEEP IN MIND

If you get a DIRT CHEAP DISCONTINUED RPSE or RPSE-Moto now from Randy and keep as a spare !!!!!! :)

    If not a Moto ..

then it still it CAN be Converted by taking the audio out thru the speaker and a thin hole drilled thru case to a amplified EXTERNAL spkr w simple circuit,

Probably need a diode or 2 MAYBE a resistor .... wrap them in shrinkwrap, put a connector on the 2 wires if need to remove, and You're GOLDEN !!

If you cannot do it yourself then someone here at RDFOFUM surely CAN !!!!!!!

just a thought ... done it before.

I already have an RPSE moto, I don't plan to replace it anytime soon, but was inquiring about the "upgrade" program they had for newly purchased RPSEs. That's when I discovered they were out of the business. Later down the road I guess Radenso is out but most of the other brands are compatible with the The H.A.R.D. System (helmet assisted radar detection system) . HARD system is a wireless gizmo you mount on your helmet that flashes a red light.

$170 for what is essentially a red LED controlled by a wireless dongle? Yikes.
