Damn it! My R3 warned me of the red light camera and I still received a ticket. I could have sworn the light was yellow but just viewed the video on violationinfo.com and it turned red a fraction of a second before traveling through - $158.00. I guess that I am guilty but really not happy - especially since I was driving through a skanky little Florida town that I normally avoid...always wondered how they can afford to pay for all of their cops! Lesson learned - listen to my Uniden and avoid skanky Florida towns.

How much warning from R3? In feet or seconds?

Can you see how long the light was yellow? Most states have a formula, I believe Federal law requires a minimum of 3 seconds, but don't quote me on this. I would look to see if FL has a law requiring so many seconds of yellow for the speed limit on the road.

That's a great idea but the video is only a few seconds and doesn't show the length of time the light was yellow. . The only thing the video shows is another car going through the, (already), yellow light with me behind him. The light turned red right before I crossed under it. I will definitely check into it - thanks for the information.

Talk to a lawyer from around those parts. Sometimes the consequences of not paying a red light camera ticket are that you cannot renew your car's registration if it is registered in the county where the red light camera was. I do not know Florida's laws on red light cameras, so do your homework, but when we had red light cameras where I live, in many cases, you could tell them to go **** themselves if you got a ticket.

Gotta love it when you can ignore a ticket.

I've passed through quite alot of red light cameras on accident. Couple we're behind a truck. Guess I've been blessed to not receive one to date.

Most people that I know that have gotten it usually pay it off and be done with it since there are no points and it's not like it shows up on your record. Strictly revenue.

Don't get me started on this one, in Libertyville Illinois I got a ticket because I entered the intersection four tenths of a second after the light turned red. In the picture the front of my car is clearly over the white line. $100 for Dunkin donuts and I don't even get one.

Going to have to avoid the whole state then.

Minimum yellow suggestion is good, especially if you can go back to the town or know someone who can and time it out, and take video from the area of the camera going through a few cycles.

Do you have dashcam that has you going through under yellow because the light was posted so high up a reasonable driver couldn't see it change? Does the video they sent show someone close behind you where stopping would have caused you to be rear ended?

I would also suggest looking to see if you can find the firm that's been pushing tickets up to FL appeals courts and making it so many areas are shutting down the RLC programs.

Also which camera company was it? When were they put in? How big of a bribe was the city paid and how much do they not want it published?
