Seems to be a nice idea.
How does it know of those known locations and speed cams? Where do the app get it's info from? Does it work with apple watch?

Also, at $15 with 0 reviews. Maybe you should do like a introductory price so people would buy, use it and test it out.

just my 0.2c

Congrats on the app and welcome to the forum!

A few questions for you so that I can better understand your app and its features.

How are hotspots created, exactly? Do you create them yourself or is there a centralized database online somewhere that the app references? From what it looks like, it's basically a way to manually mark locations you'd like to be alerted to?

Can you tell me a little more about the lockouts? Are they manual only or also automatic? How wide is the GPS lockout? ie. +/- 30 MHz. If the V1 detects an additional bogey with a similar frequency and location as a locked out signal, will the V1 alert?

Could you show us what a K band signal looks like both normally alerting and locked out?

I like that you've got custom sweeps built into the app. That's really cool too. Could you post a screenshot of the CS config page?

What makes your app more sophisticated than YaV1 or V1Driver?

Thanks!

Thanks for taking the hit on buying the app. $15 is a bit much, sight unseen. Looking forward to your review.

seems like they just pop around in other forums promoting their apps.

here is a link to their site.

http://www.procypher.com/procypher-software-about.php

They have a lot of different apps with very few downloads. I would be very cautious.

I looked at a few in the itunes store and they have terrible ratings for some of their apps.

Like i said $15 is too much for an app with 0 credibility.

It should be free to select members to test out and compare and an introductory price to everyone else for a period of time.

The fact that he hasn't answered Vortex's questions really raised a red flag for me.

@ProcypherApps Jim, can you give us something to chew on here and tell us more about your app. I see you're from Albany and develop mobile apps. I think it's awesome that you're producing an iOS app for the V1.

What I am interested in is "auto lockouts" for K band false sources. Does you app implement that and what are criteria that it uses for lockout?

Hi RusWolf, initially users manually enter the locations into the app, in a future version locations will be automatically shared amongst users (optionally).

I would consider setting a date for a promotional offering, maybe after a handful of folks express interest in such?

Always good to see work around detector APIs. Hopefully Uniden follows suit.
Thank you and I agree!

Hello and thank you for your interest in our app! This version does not offer 'auto' lockouts, we're considering making it optional in a future version. Why? Because with 'Logic' and 'Advanced Logic' modes plus considering the fallibility of auto lockouts makes this feature not such a high priority for us at this time (we know it's a popular user request, but we believe not a critical feature).

But what is a high priority is customer satisfaction, so we'd love to keep hearing from avid users of Valentine One V1 Radar Locator and our companion app :)

I notice the word 'optional' being tossing around a few times for certain potential features in the future - typically that mean that would be an 'ad-on' and extra $$ - is that what you were implying?

Thank you for your kind words.

NO! not at all! Option to us means a feature which a user can turn 'On' and 'Off'. In this case, we want the user to choose whether or not to allow us to share their location info. (red/speed camera locations, etc.), rather than just force them to do such without a choice.

Like presently, a user can select to optionally 'auto connect' the V1 and the app on start up (or not), we don't force the feature on the user.

P.S. We also think $14.99 for an app is a lot of money, that's why we're committed to developing the best companion app for the Valentine One V1 Radar Locator available and include additional features at no cost.

This means one that works properly and reliably, consistently offering the user an excellent experience, this is key for us. Also an app that delivers what users want, we are committed to this idea and is a major reason why we'll continue to be active on social media (like forums).

Jim @ProcypherApps thank you for getting back to us. Tough crowd huh? They're also very appreciative , so don't lose faith.

If we're creating a laundry list of possible "options", K band lockouts need to be at the top. This is one of the foremost reasons why V1 users get apps. The typical parameters used are # of passes for a given location and
Frequency for the given false. While we're at it, is it at all possible to allow a user to lockout a specific given frequency on a mobile source such as an Acura MDX for example. For example, lockout an MDX at 24.200 + or - at speeds greater than X?? Because K band is so narrow, this is a tough one, but a user selection for mobile K band sources would be a great option.

In addition, a near unlimited database of "threat areas" and speed traps would also be a priority. Most of us know our own areas of travel, but what if we're out of town or in unfamiliar territory? Sharing these with users from all over US and even Canada would be an appreciated option and having them automatically alert us would be really cool. " Known User Speed Trap Ahead". For example, in MD, there's a lot of automated enforcement, so if a MD resident who knows where they typically put them can upload that location , it would help the guy not familiar. Even if moved one day, he could then delete the old and mark the new, sorta like Waze does for police reports.

Hey, thanks for the words of encouragement!

K band lockouts and near unlimited database of "threat areas" and speed traps are currently our highest priorities and will be released in very near future versions. Probably shared database of Hotspots first, then K band lockouts.

Personally I wouldn't consider the app without lockouts. It's a must have feature. That, combined with the fact that once you load in custom sweeps for maximum performance, you don't have the option for Logic and Advanced Logic modes, so means that you're even more reliant upon other filters like low speed muting and lockouts.

The hotspot feature I wouldn't find particularly useful. Personally I'd rather use Waze to alert me to RLC's and police spotted ahead. That database already exists and it would save me from having to build it from scratch myself.

So really the killer feature would be autolockouts. It's one of the key features in YaV1 and V1Driver and one of the primary reasons why a person would want to run it over the factory V1connection app.

I'm looking forward to seeing how your app continues to develop and am excited to see another person creating cool stuff for the community! :)

How big was your alpha/beta test group? Realize that other V1 developers were/are active and responsive here.

Hi Vortex, our app presently has Lockouts, Mute Under Speed, and Mute After Time features. And I agree for Custom Sweeps mode an auto lockouts feature is highly desirable, that's why we're here and that's why we're working on getting this feature completed ASAP.

I'm exited too! I recently switched from Passport 8500 x50 (which was great, but noisy) to Valentine One and I'm loving it and that's why I built this app :)

I like the way you think! I like active forums too :)

Beta test group was small, but very thorough, which led us to create a feature rich yet stable and reliable app to continue to build upon with new well designed, developed, and tested features.

I don't think anyone is trying to scare them off, just want to see if they are serious and will be sticking around to work with the users!

Glad to see you join in on the conversation!
