OK this is part joke, because I made a thread that my R3 seemed to get super noisy as soon as I flashed 1.30. Now I flash 1.31 and in the last several days I've had TWO BSM falses. Usually I get at least that many in a single drive, let alone a day, let alone alone nearly a week. I know it's working because it picks up the lockouts at the same spots as usual, and it got FOUR cops pulling over someone on the interstate on my way to work this morning, all with their radar on running 34.7. So no concerns there. I was running K 40% for a few days but it was weirdly quiet so I turned it to highway and still get basically no falses.

Sounds to me like when someone falls on their head and gets amnesia, then hurts their head again and remembers everything. Sounds like your radar bumped it's head when you loaded FW 1.31. All better!

It's hard for me to tell this early, but I think so far mine is just a bit quieter to BSM falses. Running K 60%, K wide, K filter on same as before.

it's hard for me to ever tell since I live in NYC. The only time I will ever know if BSM has improved is when those acura/honda BSM get filtered out around 24.196-24.204

There weren't any BSM filtering changes between 1.30 and 1.31. It's certainly possible that sometimes you'll encounter more cars with BSM's and other times less, similar to how when you get a new RD and want to test it, radar-shooting LEO's are typically hard to find, but just because your R3 is falsing less isn't because the filtering has been improved.

I think this is just a great detector and good at filtering BSM falses. Just depends what cars you pass out there on any given day, but overall Uniden did a good job with filtering.

I didn't mean to imply it did, but maybe my previous firmware file was screwed up because it was fairly loud. I installed it twice but I don't think I re-downloaded it, so it's always possible a bit here or there got messed up and screwed with the false filtering without any other symptoms, however extremely unlikely.

This detector may not make a sound all day or be very vocal depending on the cars you encounter

After reading this post yesterday I had a chance to use my wife's car today with the R1, so I did the OCD thing and counted all of the Honda's/Acuras I passed on RTE 295 (26 mile trip)---- and how many times the R1 alerted to K band. I'm on advanced with K wide and K filter on with 2/5/6/8 for Ka band segments. I counted 38 Hondas/Acuras and it went off 3 times of the 38. The times it went off were obviously very new Honda's. I have no idea if this is typical or not as I have passed Honda's before with no alert FWIW.

Not all offending vehicles have the BSM package installed & even if it has it installed it could be off. To test for BSM's accurately the tester needs to have access to these vehicle.

As others have said I think it really does depend mostly on which cars you are around at any given time. My unit has always been reasonably quiet but can be very chatty too depending on the offending cars around me.

The best thing we could hope for is that car manufactorers STOP using K band in their cars. lol

Correct---I guess I should have laid out my conclusion is there's no conclusion other than I have OCD.. :)

It's really not a day by day thing here. I see CRVs and MDXs every day, and Escalades almost every day. Pacificas are a lot rarer. I have not had many falses.

They are doing this, didn't you know that?

Imo I think it may have a few of the GM Tahoe and surbarban BSM handled
Where the alerts are coming from is crossover suvs not only bsm but Collison avoidance rear crosspath and like 4 total safety features that could use k band radar
Most manufacturers will use sonar or camera technology for some of the systems
And some don't learn like loaded Pacifica's
Die Pacifica Die

I am experiencing the exact same thing. I remember your post about 1.30 being really noisy and commented that mine was as well. My gf and I were together the day after 1.31 and she said it wasn't "making as much noise today" lol I have to agree with her. I always think I'm going crazy until someone else posts the same thing on here.

Now that I am reading this thread i have to say my R3 is definitely quieter and I am not seeing as many CRV falses as I used to on 1.30.

The other day I drove 50 miles on the freeway without a single false. I drive from Salem to Portland a lot and I think that's the only time I didn't get a false the entire drive. Didn't even occur to me until I got off of the freeway when I started getting door opener alerts. Coming back I got the normal amount of falses.
