I was aware of this prior to this thread on ERF, but I just wanted to post this because this is how you get end users JTGing cops :ughh:. I'm all for having the ability to have "unlimited jam" but the majority of users will not need it unless testing. Escort should implement a default option with a 4-second auto kill. It's actually pretty surprising they don't even have that as an option.

4 second autokill should be the default on all "parking sensor" systems. sigh. another brilliant design from this company

It's the uneducated people that are going for the Escort Shifters. They're the ones who will do no research and not understand how important a (quick) JTK really is. Anybody else who knows anything or does any research would choose the ladder. It sucks that this design will surely amount to a lot of JTG/JFG's

and all that JTG and JFG will lead to more places banning them.... best we can hope is the uneducated people that get them will be uneducated about how to correctly install them and they will suffer punch throughs and prevent JTG, it might make those of us that do JTK less likely to be noticed compared to the uneducated users

That's what I hope. A LEO is more likely to pull someone over for a JTG (if they even do that) than a person with a 4 second JTK. It will make us that kill under 2 seconds less conspicuous. I guess in a way this is beneficial but IMO it's far from good. Hopefully they implement an update that enables auto recieve only

I have been looking at many of the custom installs on various instagram pages and was thinking oh god no way the operator is getting to that control module in time to kill it...I would imagine its a pretty easy firmware fix...but Escort seems so slow in any kind of firmware for anything...

I for one am just hoping the majority of folks out there will not even be bothered with jammers. I know its great for the companies who make the products to sell more of them, but having uninformed users bringing attention to the rest of us is not a good thing. I am a little nervous with my rear install as its a lot more conspicuous and running into LEO's who might be knowledgeable about these systems. Lucky for me, I have very good SA and tend to notice them in time as to not draw attention to myself.

ZR5 system has been working exceptional for me.... I really like the manual Mute/ Kill ...because I’m very proactive as a driver ....and I kill/ mute faster than any auto kill system ever would...( auto kill may work for people who eat or drink will driving and that’s ok) . (lots of laser in Las Vegas ) ..i did a lot of research on all systems before my purchase and couldn’t be happier.

Auto kill is a nice backup to have set for times when something happens, agreed you should always manual kill if possible (generally in 2 seconds) but to not have it available (or as a default) just means that JTG accidents can happen (and they have with the ZR5's) as users aren't always aware of how to use things properly. Escort is supposedly going to fix this via a firmware release.

Looks like any AutoKill option timeframe remains indefinite, as it will require both a shifter and an RD firmware update. Since the shifters interface with multiple RD models, that would be a lot of multiple model firmware updates. Accordingly, based on this latest post it would not seem to be something on the near term horizon IMO.

I couldn't agree more with this thread. I need a fully stealth install and don't want anything on my windshield. That pretty much means the Escort Max Ci, but if I'm paying that much money I want the auto kill function, or a firm commitment that it's coming this year.
