How about those that had them and returned them??

Of course there will be those who have a " hot" unit hand selected by ER ;)

    Thank you Vortex!

Sure. The encompassing Articles are there to compile various users experience, the good the bad the ugly. Though they are mostly to inform people of whats new and available as well as what that specific models features provides. The down and dirty details is for the forum to provide within.

Great Video Vortex! Watching that Video makes me relies how many darn RD's Escort pumps out and discontinues.

If they only listened to us 10 years ago creating a RedLine IX they would have been way ahead of the curve and may actually have better products today.

    Escort Redline EX - Review

The Escort Redline EX is the latest windshield detector from Escort currently.

This unit is packed with features! Some of them include:
    • Completely Stealth to ALL radar detector detectors including the Spectre Elite
    • Windshield mounted detector
    • Sensitivity settings - Highway, Auto, AutoNoX, and AutoLoK
    • Automatic GPS lockouts - Autolearn
    • Cruise Alert - Low-speed muting
    • Frequency display and arrows
    • Ability to integrate with Escort's Zr5 “shifter” (laser jammers)
    • International radar gun support (Multaradar CD, Multaradar CT, Gatso, and Strelka)

    Let's look at radar performance:

    Ka 34.7
    34.7 testing.

    K band

    K band filtering:

This can be difficult to review as individual experiences may vary due to your location and how many BSM/CAS equipped vehicles are around you. The Escort Redline EX has decent K band filtering but is really only achievable if you enable TSR due to a bug. I think it performs similarly to the V1's TMF2. The biggest problem with the Redline EX's filtering is when you do get a BSM punch through, the alert is full tilt implying that you need to react instantly. There is talk about a new firmware update is on the way (1.3) but I will need to test it before I comment.

Improvements over the Escort Redline Original:

    Improved K band filtering
Added support for international radar guns
    GPS lockouts
    Improved display
    Magnet mount
    Redlight/Speed camera database

    Negatives:

Reduced Ka and K band range due to added international gun support.
MRCD falsing is pretty annoying. Ford F-150's, Lexus and some other vehicles will trigger MRCD alerts.
Size of the unit, for a "stealth" unit it's freakin' huge!

    Conclusions:

I would say this is a decent city detector that has all the features you need. While it does have reduced range in comparison the original Redline, it still performs well enough. You can really see the separation when you face off-axis threats in heavy foliaged areas. I would feel comfortable running this in Edmonton, but make sure you explore all other available options and examine the test results by myself and others on RDF.
