Got my first save of the day heading eastbound on the belt just now. Got a few Ka blips on the r3 and slowed down. And as I was just going under the Verrazano, The r3 indicated laser. Sure enough, highway patrol on a 90 degree just past the bridge shooting out the driver window. This guy was on a mission to be running bother laser and radar. Lucky he was though or I woulda been toast.

Good old Belt Parkway it can shake loose a Sherman tank.
A couple of times at about 2 am on a Sunday by the Rockaway Pkwy exit going eastbound, one yo yo with leather around his ankles sits high on the hill. What I got is Ka alert with plenty of time to slow down and as I got close the ALP's went off as well as the Redline's laser alert.

Here's what I don't understand. The patrol car is positioned with the flow of traffic. I have seen them perpendicular with traffic, but never facing traffic. No one on the road as I am approaching him when the laser alerts went off. So how exactly is he aiming the laser? is he shooting out his back window?

Anyway, every time I drive late on a Sunday night coming in from Jersey, there is a lot of enforcement from NYC Highway & the NYS Troopers (The Governor & the Mayor are still having a pissing contest) on the Staten Island Expressway and the Belt Pkway.

Most likely shooting off of the driver side mirror.

All the time. There are a few spots where they are sitting perpendicular

That holds up in court? But then again we're talking about NYC and their Kangaroo court.

Mirrors? Time to video record him doing that as you drive by him and if caught try and fight it.The area that you guys are mentioning must be very heavily enforced for them to do such a trick shot.Reason for facing away is for them for you to think there not running no radar or Laser and do a sneak attack!I can see if there are perpendicular but rear facing with Laser is very difficult.

In NYS they only need visual. As 'they are trained' but am sure he would say radar confirmed if he was pushed. Key is what supporting deposition says...

Some areas have no room to sit perpendicular to the road. It's just a break down lane where they sit.

I believe many LIDAR gun manuals say NOT to do it this way, but good luck proving/fighting it.

Dude Sunday at 2 a.m?? It was -10 degrees out. It was actually colder than Alaska and he was shooting lidar? Maybe he was just messing with the gun through his windshield to see the difference between the stalker reading and the lidar gun reading.

But on a different note, someone on here once posted a video of NYSP shooting lidar through the crack of his driver side door in the dead of winter parallel to the road. Maybe he was shooting like that. Would be hard to notice if his door was open slightly at night.

Actually it was A KA party during the storm. And few days ago I actually saw a an officer holding a stalker in the cold. He was standing in front of his unmarked car to hide and shooting cars approaching him (this he does all the time in the summer)

The cold surely did reduce laser enforcement. But the threat is still there. They are relentless.

I saw this again this weekend. These guys are truly relentless. I could clearly see his door closed as the laser alerts were going off.

On a different note, I have only had Ka encounters with the State Troopers (yes NYS Troopers) on the Belt Pkway & in Staten Island.

Tip for you guys coming into Brooklyn over the Verrazzano late at night. I have used both upper and lower levels enough times to notice that most (i'll say most because the opposite is possible I suppose, but for me it has been always) speed traps happen at the end of the upper level. Reason being, on the lower level there really is no room for a car to safely sit there as far as I can see.
When the Redline would beep once or twice on Ka (34.7) as I was near the end of the lower level, I knew that there was a trap on the upper level, and Waze sometimes would back that up.
So far this has been working for me for the past few years.

I just received the R1 and I am curious to see how it compares to the Redline going forward.

NR detected an undercover taxi, the LEO already had somebody pulled over - looks like this (not exact image but looked like this with the same stickers). This stretch of road is really good to test out your counter measures. They are there like clockwork.

Honestly, I would not pull over for that. I'd probably call it in. Just using my NY street cents.
