So in the CSP unmarked cars thread I was talking about seeing undercover minivans in NYC. I haven't seen them in a while but with the U.N meeting this week, patrol in the city has amp up. Patrol has been so heavy I saw two different undercover minivans just tonight alone. One toyota sienna and one honda odyssey. The first one I ever saw was a dodge caravan undercover so now there's three to lookout for in the boroughs. Here's the footage of both:

Side note: if your in the boroughs this week, I would watch my speed as enforcement is crazy like I haven't seen before.

Hmmm, that place looks very familiar... I think I was there just today!

Is this why I've been seeing so much speed enforcement lately? I got hit by a Prolaser 3 going eastbound on the Van Wyck on the on-ramp near the Collegepoint Multiplex. Then by Stalkers and Prolaser 4s all the same day!

I believe so. They were parked throughout Grand Central today, especially around laguardia airport and I'll assume JFK as well.

Connecticut State Police. He's referring to this thread where the author is talking about Connecticut State Police unmarked cars.

I have yet to see any of those vehicles used for speed enforcement in NYC. Most of them are federal vehicles. The ones that are NYPD are normally used for other enforcement requiring extreme stealth. I.e. auto theft task force, narco task force.

They are definitely not used for speed enforcement. But in Queens, they do make traffic stops. Basically you run a redlight, now they have cause to peek inside your vehicle. Those kind of stops.

Heavily used for stops in Astoria. Largest Narco task force in the boroughs.

NYC drivers, we can add unmarked black Nissan Altima to the list. Saw it this morning as I was walking to the train station for work. Unmarked black Nissan Altima pulled over a motorist probably for running a red light.

I think that's a hard leo car to spot since everyone owns a black altima. Even I have one lol.

Thanks for the update jhaggy. I had a black Altima annually. It was the car I learned to drive in.

This just gets harder and harder every year.

OMG they have undercover cop cars that can cling to upside down surfaces? :O

Jokes aside, I love how they always curl up their license plate. Probably a personal vehicle though.

Like the saying goes, you can't outrun motorola. And traffic is terrible in NYC. Would be very lucky if you can outrun a cop here.

What’s a police placard? And is it possible this is a personal vehicle? Around here cops work part-time (civilian) jobs for extra cash, including installing blue-and-reds on their personal vehicles and blocking traffic for churches letting out or for construction zones, etc.

Those orange EZPass are a good way to spot these folks. Good while watching your 6.

Allows them to park almost anywhere. Consequently the placards are forged. There's no actual tracking method and placards of different designs with non-existing agencies have even worked. I remember some guy had a placard from the United Federation of Planets and it worked every time. lol
