Nothing active and sanctioned by RDF. If we had it, it'd need to be a private group.

Thanks for the info, just followed them both. I think having a private group would be great, maybe not?

I would endorse a private group just for the sake of backup planning...

why bother with FB? Not everyone uses it, and no real security control there.

The feeds are active actually. Not right now due to the migration but it's on the list...

IMO the only thing rdf will ever have as far as social media goes is public groups - mainly consisting of links to threads being posted. A private group would suggest that there is some information of some kind behind the curtain on a server which we have zero control over, and that should never be the case.

Nothing being posted to social media is anything that couldn't be found on the public face of our website anyway... making it no bigger threat then our website is.

And honestly the bigger rdf gets, the more control over the flow of information we have, and that is the most important thing.

I actually brought it up with cjr earlier this month and cjr being cjr was against it but I still think it would be a good idea to create an rdf leadership position for a full-time social media director - it would be a moderator level position and I'm sure with all the younger guys around these days someone would jump at the opportunity to do it.

I can't say that I would be very comfortable using my real name in a public forum like Facebook and ending up on some LEO's list of CM enthusiasts.

New users would have to be vetted or be a member of RDF in order to be added to the group. I'm always on FB so If you need a Mod lmk.

Not only this, some of us live in a place where CMs are illegal.

I'm pretty sure I'm on that list. If it was a private group with only confirmed RDF members (intermediate plus) I think it would be ok

Edited my post due to the typo, sorry.

Would a friend of yours on FB not see you're part of a private group called "x"? That would be my main concern.

I'm not sure what they would see, but I'm not real concerned what groups a friend might see I'm a member of. I have many interests, and I live in a relatively free state, so not overly worried what opinions others may carry of myself at this point in life

Not if the group was made "secret". I'm also a member of some... let's say... "adult-orientated risque groups" don't show up on my profile.

That's why it's not required ;).

Hell, I own RDF "in name" - and my name/addresses are plastered around govt official websites due to RDF trademarks etc.

And I used to live in VA and run jammers AND a detector... Paranoia is a bitch. Be smart, not paranoid, it'll put you in an early grave...
