What's a good car phone mount? I think I would prefer suction cup window mounted but I am open to any suggestions! What are some mounts that I should stay away from. (If any)

Thanks,

I've been looking at installing a ProClip setup (http://www.proclipusa.com/) but I haven't done so yet. It's a little pricey for a phone mount.

There are MANY good choices out there. So much depends on your phone, your car, and your personal preferences. I prefer magnetic mounts, and I have the metal plate adhered to the outside of the Pelican case for my iPhone 7 Plus. At the moment this has been my go-to: Koomus Pro CD-M Universal CD Slot Magnetic Cradle-less Smartphone Car Mount Holder https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B016GNYZIC

Interesting. I wonder if that interferes with wireless charging though.

No clue. Get a wireless charging magnetic mount then LOL.

Maybe something like this? SCOSCHE Wireless Charging Car Mount for all Qi phones including Samsung Galaxy 8 and Nexus Devices (Window or Dash) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B06XK8ZXPM

I probably should have clarified... I only charge it wirelessly at home. In the car it's via a good ol' USB plug.

If proclip has something for your car in a location that you like, buy it. They really are great mounts.

Proclip looks great but is pricey. I prefer magnetic vent mounts as I can move them easily between cars and is just as easy to put my phone on the mount. The vent mounts only work if you have good vents to mount them on.

I'm a fan of the ones where you stick a thin plate on the back of your phone and the mount is a strong magnet. Mine works great, my car provides very few mounting options since I'm not one of those dummies who mounts stuff in front of their face in the middle of the windshield. If you ever have to peel the steel plate off, make sure you use like a knife or something otherwise you'll bend the plate and it's almost impossible to get it back flat.

Scosche MagicMount. I have 2 of them. I may get another as a permanent/magnetic mount for my V1.

Here is my suggestion: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00UXS7958/ref=pe_386430_121528420_TE_dp_1

I love it. Yes, it's expensive, but worth every dime.
I think my problem with that would be my phone would probably still drain when the screen is on in that mount, since Qi is so slow. Maybe it works for other phones but all the phones I've had slowly drain on 1A chargers and a couple have even barely charged at all on 2.1A when navigation is going and the screen is on full brightness.

When Waze, and Spotify are both going, your concern is valid. In fact, in my case (at full screen brightness), it can't keep up. It's a very slow drain even though it's charging, but for long road trips I just move the cable from the charger over to the phone and charge it directly. For puttering around town, it's good enough. Qi charging won't be able to address that concern sadly.

I use a Pro-clip / Scosche magnetic mount combination. Bought the Pro-clip that mounts to the vehicle, then the scosche magnetic mount to interface with my phone.

The advantage of pro-clip is that it is a rock solid mount, in addition, it also has Vesa mounting holes, so you can mount for example a RAM mount plate. there's really a lot of choices using a pro-clip base.

Been using ProclipUSA for many years. If you keep your vehicles for long periods and don't change phones every time a new one is released you may like the ProClips.
When I do switch phones I just replace the slide in mount.
Show us what you end up with.

For windshield, I went with RAM system and the X grip. But it's mainly a rental car/travel/shotgun for road trip type thing now.

I don't like things up on the windshield, so I I've got 2 Scosche Magnetic mounts that adhesive and have an adjustable ball, and one proclip with a Scosche flush mount Magnet tacked on where the other half of the proclip would screw in.

Go universal and put some money into it up front and you won't have to be constantly repurchasing cheaper mounts after they fail and risk breaking your device.

In south Texas, blocking A/C vents isn't a great idea even if you have solid vents to mount them to ;)
