    Thanks!

I agree. Same reason as you I went with this. I would NOT put it on the defrost lines. Bad reception, but may(probably will) interfere with the defrost function. Try to find a window that doesn't have them.

Since this, I have my 396xt installed.

    No "saves."

More or less just calling in stops.

Useful yes. I always like to have that awareness. Also I've been listening to my campus police. Very helpful with what's going on on campus.

Yeah, problem is I'm a little OCD about symmetry. I would want it dead center on the top of the rear window. Oh well, guess I'll keep looking. Thanks though!

I would experiment around with location. Do you want a scanner or not lol.

I would be patient, and look at other options.

If it's local use, or say 800mhz or low band, great reception almost always, go with a rubber duck antenna.

Ha ha, I already have a scanner. Running a hand held with a 800mhz duck sitting on a Scosche magic mount so the antenna is almost touching the windshield. Seems to work pretty good, but pulling stuff in from further away would be better for

Not just paranoid but now unaccountable to the taxpayer who funds this stuff.

I agree TAC channels should be encrypted for obvious reasons but dispatch channels?

They really don't want the public to hear anything.

My area went encrypted after 25 years of listening and the public, media and tow operators were pissed. There were articles in the newspaper about accountability.

As a compromise move, the police gave the media radios with the encryption key punched in and transmit disabled.

However, tow companies got squat and all tows were routed via their dispatch. Then the police were complaining about tows taking too long to arrive on scene.

Congrats on the new scanner. Really like the install, nice and clean. Never would have thought to mount the scanner next to the seat like that. Great idea, nice and easy to reach and see. Very cool.

Thanks Driver. I currently have the BCT-8 out. I'm going to either make the 396xt work better or put the 8 back there and maybe Velcro it to the console. I love that spot. Only problem is it's an analog scanner, not digital. But I can still listen to a lot.
