I am having a hard time believing Blinder does not keep their firmware updated. 2 years seems like a long time and makes a person feel like they have sold an item but support drops at your credit card swipe. Firmware updates continuously give users a sense of commitment and support from an electronics manufacturer and said company will lose longtime customers if they get the slightest notion a company quits caring.

<insert generic "ALP is the only real system" response>

Blinder, LI, and most others are now worthless against modern guns and larger vehicles. ALP works on everything with a proper install, and the stinger is pretty good but not great. I'm not going to recommend the Max Ci laser jammer system whatever they call it because all they're doing is corporate espionage against ALP, although really ineffectively.

It does look like Blinder is likely done at this point. Sadly, Leon passed away last year and he was one of the main guys behind Blinder.

https://www.rdforum.org/showthread.php?t=56997

That said, his wife Bonnie has been taking over. https://www.rdforum.org/showthread.php?t=56997&page=4&p=790303&viewfull=1#post790303

Blinder was due to release a system this past February, but that came and went with no new product announced. It actually looks like Blinder is rebadging their new jammer and selling them to Escort for the new ShifterMax jammers in the Max Ci and Max Ci 360.

Nothing has come out from Blinder in a while now and I'm not anticipating anything new or any continued support for existing products. I really hope to be wrong though.

Its history repeating itself. LI Support basically stopped when LI starting making lots of selling product to Escort (Escort LSP), Now Blinder is taking over and they are making lots of money selling to Escort (ZR5 and New Shifter Max)
What has not changed is ALP has been there selling and supporting users for over a Decade :)

Good to know. They seem to find their way making more money on copyright infringement, than supporting their own product. Once the patent expires, the money and consumer loyalty will be gone. Plan for the future, not just the present.

There is only one way to go AntiLaser... all other companies I don't trust... Year after year there is more reasons why...
I'm glad that in this case I learn on other people mistakes, thanks to RDF first buy was the best on the market...
Or you buy ALP, or you don't buy anything... there is no other option unfortunately...

Firmware can only do so much. You'll need new hardware to protect against the new guns today.

Yes and most importantly to make the heads way more install-error tolerant.

I'd rather heads that can just be slapped on the front and as long as they look like they're pointed somewhat strait they'll JTG everything. Doesn't mean I couldn't do a proper install if I had to.

I was taking a swipe at some of the abysmal *Escort Certified Installer* jobs that we've seen pictures of, not anyone who's on this forum and paying attention ;)

I have owned a couple of generations of Blinder and LI. Both well made systems in their day and saved my bacon countless times. Unfortunately they don't keep up and with Dragoneye always changing obviously parking sensor companies have got to stay on their game. Go ALP or go home.

Welp, looks like there will be a Blinder Dual kit going up for sale soon.

Really wish I had found this forum 6 months ago when I made my purchase.

If money is no issue then sell. If money is and u don't live in Dragoneye state then what u have is good for now and will jam the easy/regular guns fine.

I'm in FL, and I am pretty sure Dragoneye is being used in the state, however I cannot confirm if it is being used in south FL where I am. Although FHP is kept alive because of laser and HOV tickets, so I am willing to bet it is.

The real thing that bugs me is I am planning to take the car cross country in the near future and want to make sure that what laser defense system I am using is up to par to handle everything I could encounter. I assumed (my first mistake) there would be an update coming. However it is now nearly impossible to get a response to even just simple questions through email, for me at least, so seeing this thread is kind of the last straw for me.

Of course, I don't want to go spend the $$$$ on an ALP kit (After already buying the Blinder) but it seems like it is now the only way to go.

If you own a HP-905 there will be no update to add Dragon support. The hardware cant support it and you will wait forever for an update that will not come.

Well the hardware still works fine for all LG in use in many states, and the vast majority of LG in others. (LEO have a budget too and upgrading LG equipment often does not make economic sense with so few people using LJ, their existing equipment still works fine against virtually all drivers.).

Too bad about what happened with Blinder, but if they are going out they should at least open-source their firmware so that the community of users that have invested in the hardware can add new signatures and remove any that may result in false alarms.

Sure, I'll get whatever is working best when I get another car, but installing is kind of a PIA and the HP 905 is working with everything commonly used at present in my area.

I just need a darn computer for the two heads I removed off of my old car. I left the computer installed behind the stereo system since the car was an 01 Corolla and totaled. Might as well use them.

I have a brand new in the box HP- 905 triple sensor unit that I could be interested in selling if you are interested. I did register it and updated the firmware when I bought it, but before I could install it Dragon Eye took over the area.

Not sure if I'd be interested. It'd have to be on the cheaper end if I were to buy it. But this all depends on how my new dual TMG setup performs once I test it. I'll let you know.
