Nissan Connect: Don’t understand why when you hit the Carplay button it tells you to reconnect phone to connect. And if the phone isn’t connected, when you hit the button and connect- it still tells you to disconnect and reconnect. Is it a Nissan bug or are all cars doing this?

I have not experienced this behavior with my BMW.

Super excited to finally have WAZE in CarPlay!

This week I rented a Juke and CarPlay worked perfectly. Maxima’s must need a FW update.

I feel like we are getting closer to being able to display V1D on CarPlay. Little by little!

I never said V1Driver would make it to a CarPlay screen. It’s other folks that are speculating what Apple will allow.

I have no plans to make V1Driver a navigation app. That would be a lot of work and I’m sure Apple would force a a lot of UI rules for the car UI that might make it less functional. I even find a lot of apps I do use annoyingly dumbed down to minimize distraction.

I added Siri shortcuts and Siri shortcuts are disabled through CarPlay while driving. Grrrr. That was the whole point in doing the Siri ShortCuts.

I always have my eye out for smoother integration. I rarely need to look at it to be honest. I may do some more stuff with voice.

Any updates at all?

My hope would be to have V1Driver on my iPhone and CarPlay for Waze/Maps/AppleMusic.

After reading the thread it seems that CarPlay restricts this possibility because the iPhone display gets locked out when attached to CarPlay. Is this the case even with Wireless CarPlay?

Don’t think wireless CarPlay changes anything. The Synchronized Screens is by design. Any change to this would probably be a major direction change. I’m not expecting it to change.

Question relating to this, is there anything special to get V1Driver notifications (and just the notifications) to appear on CarPlay like how navigation/iMessage notifications are seen?

If possible, then at least you don't need to make it visible on CarPlay and would hopefully be an easier integration point? I dunno, just a thought.

So, all the info I’m reading in regards to IOS 13 coming this fall, it sounds like CarPlay will now allow simultaneous apps to run at the same time. So you if you are running Waze through in dash navigation screens, you can also have V1 driver displayed on your phone screen.

 You can't do that now? I had no idea.

Solely to explain my surprise > I've been doing VVaze on Android Auto and JBV1 on the phone for roughly 40,000 miles.

I’m not too familiar with the Android platform, but at least in IOS, no. It will only allow CarPlay compatible apps to be visible while in CarPlay.

It's basically the same on Android. It's just on Android if you pull up a different App on the phone it won't force you to Sync it to the corresponding Car Screen App, but CarPlay will.
And if there is no corresponding app the Car Play Screen sits at the home screen.

V1Driver and Waze can run together just fine. You just can't View each on different screens.

The Apple Watch will now run independent apps. Formerly the Watch is just a "Screen Extension" of the phone (most of the time).
CarPlay is similar in that it's just a Screen Extension and is not running iOS nor is Android Auto running Android.
So I'm not sure what this will exactly bring to CarPlay just yet. But they are big changes coming.

I wish they wouldn't call it iOS 13 though.

Technically correct. From a Car Play display on dash perspective. Go to open all like email, WebEx, or ER Live, it suspends the Car Play in the dash, and the apps on phone work.
