Any chance that V1Driver would work with CarPlay in the future?
I already use it on my Pioneer head unit
Is YaV1 available for Android Auto?
Not sure I am currently using IOS. You could always mirrorcast it
Then it already works with CarPlay. Awesome!
You should let folks know that your phone is Jail Broken to make that happen.
So it doesn't work with CarPlay?
Really? Who, What, Where and How?
You must be doing something out of the norm?
Still curious how RollTide got V1Driver up on CarPlay without Jail Breaking
Yeah, me too.
i was just talking about it with my friend yesterday... As i'm new to V1 and he has 10 year old V1, i was just showing this app to him and showing new features it can bring to V1. I have carplay in my car and we thought how awesome it would be!
I too was thinking my stock 8” screen in my car that is CarPlay enabled would be perfect to have V1Driver displayed upon!

Personally I wouldn’t want to use the whole car screen for any V1 app including V1Driver. What I do is keep Apple Maps up on the CarPlay screen or Waze if I’m on Android Auto and run V1Driver on the phone (mounted or not). You still need to plug in your phone anyway for CarPlay or Android Auto, so you might as well take advantage of it.
Have you found a way to have one app on your phone with another running on your CarPlay display? For me CarPlay is mostly worthless because they’re tied together with my phone connected.
Good point, I had to go refresh my memory and your right. I was blurring what Android Auto can do with what CarPlay can do and often my "CarPlay" app is either Music and I don't care if it shows in foreground on CarPlay or if I'm running Nav on CarPlay I don't care that much if V1Driver is not in foreground on the phone.
So, no, I have not found a way on CarPlay. On Android Auto they are not as tightly "tied" together and you can split things.
Even if V1Driver was a native App on CarPlay it really wouldn't solve things because CarPlay basically will only let ONE thing be in foreground on BOTH and I don't see a way around it.
Yeah, I had such high hopes, but Apple mostly screwed the pooch on CarPlay. It’s really frustrating because I don’t see them fixing it any time soon.
Yeah, I’ll have a vehicle with CarPlay in the next couple of weeks and looking what I’ll be able to do, all I can do is say WTH? It may different if Apple maps didn’t suck. But, it does and it’s idiotic what they have limited it to. I doubt I’ll use it at all. If Steve was around, there would be several teams that would be looking for other jobs (Siri, maps, CarPlay).
I don’t think they think it’s broken. It’s clearly intended. And my guess is to minimize distracted driving.
Apple Maps has recently got much better. Still not as good as Google Maps, but getting pretty close. And Siri works fine for the Car needs (Nav, Phone, Msg, Music).
