I manage to go back out to Glenview to test out the ka speed Sign with the new 1.30 firmware. Heres the video, R1 manage to pick it up exactly distance last time 1.1 mile just were the 30mph sign is

I also did one run with the Vector 995 and its distance was 0.5 miles. I only did one run with the vector because I saw 2 leos as I was getting close to the sign, so I decide to call it quits FIRST ALERT IS AT 1.50 PLEASE SKIP TO THERE Notice the vector alerted 0.5 miles later then the R1

That doesn't sound like much 1/2 mile but boy does the comparison of the videos bring it into perspective.

I measured using my speedometer so I might be a little off. But there was a huge difference for sure

i tested my R3 on that same exact speed sign last week, thanks Rango for the location.I had the detection alert go off on the exact same point as your R1.I was running KA narrow with no KA filters,GPS on.K was disabled too for testing, running 1.30 firmware.

thanks it looks like there really isnt a lot of manufacture variances between Uniden detectors. Did you get to test the K band sign there as well

I know this is an old topic, but I brought my R3 and my Redline Original out there and had about 8 runs against the KA sign coming in from Glenview Ave. The detectors both consistently went off at roughly the same spot (south of Lake Ave, just before the perpendicular parking spaces on the east along the track ends), very much like your detection. Redline had one earlier save but it was not repeatable.

Like some had mentioned, the sign is pointing somewhat off axis due to a small turn on the road, the range could very well be terrain limited depending on how wide that beam is.
