This is why I put this on my calendar to call before they charge me. Happened to me once and they were nice to give me a promotion again :)
They'll always give you the promotion. I've called the day I was billed (today being the most recent example), 2 months into the period, etc. They'll cancel and pro-rate. It's kinda nice to overpay, get more months added to your subscription, *and* get a refund lol.

Only thing I really listened to over my trial was the news channels, which I don't really value all that much. I rarely ever listen to music at all because it sounds god awful. Trial recently expired, I called them to try to get a deal. They offered $99 for 1 year, I said no. Then they offered $30 for 6 mo, I said I don't want to deal with this every 6 mo. They refused to give me a longer term for the $5/mo rate and so I just said you've been sending me someone else's offers (someone else registered my email address with his account and radio) and was getting offers for $60/12 mo (that's actually a true story and I even gave them the other person's vehicle type and Radio ID). I asked for that or better, and they said they couldn't do it. I said ok, no sale, and that is where the conversation ended. Does this stuff have to be offered to radios on your own account or is this a company where you might get different results if you HUACA?

$$ well spent.

This thread just encouraged me to separate myself from that circus.

It is tedious to schedule and call the day before you are set to renew at some ridiculous rate. Its inevitable that you get busy, forget, etc and then bang you renewed at some obscene price. They hit me at $75 for 3 months just a week ago, that was the last straw.

They were purchased at separate times. I think the range was $450~ - $750~.

Remember that before the merger there was a serious possibility of bankruptcy. So it was a calculated risk on my part.

Hmm. $750USD would be worth it for my lifetime, that's for sure. I'm paying ~$70USD a year and I'll probably keep Sirius for the long run. I really enjoy it

thanks

for all the fish

is it transferrable between radios, or for lifetime of the radio... which I heard was the case for some...

If it came pre-installed from the factory then it couldn’t be transferred. Otherwise you are limited to 3 transfers, paying a fee $75~ each time.
One of my 3 subscriptions has reached its transfer limit although I can still use its streaming function. The other 2 are still in use.

In theory, I think you can call literally the second after you sign up, and tell them you want to cancel, can't you? And you still enjoy the service for the entire rest of the term you signed up for.

That's what i did, turned off auto-renew and removed my CC. So I'm at least getting what I overpaid for it.

He kept try to convince me to go to paper billing, well I've done that before. They just invoiced me at a stupid high rate and wouldn't re-negotiate that bill. That was on my wife's car and I had to just ignore them they even threaten to report to credit bureaus.

They are obviously very successful with these tactics, I just don't want to play along anymore.

I think that's different from calling and telling them you want to cancel. In theory, you're still on the hook for the service and bill, even if you don't have a CC on the account, and they can send it to collections if you don't pay. But if you tell them you want to cancel, they have to not bill you after your term is up. Even if you do this 1 second after signing up for a full 6-12 months.

Also, even if you miss the deadline, it's not a big deal. I've missed it the last two times. Yes, your credit card will get charged the full amount, but when you call to "cancel," and they offer you the better deal, you will get a refund of the overpayment.

Last time I don't recall the numbers, but I paid one day at the "full amount," had the credit card charge (which was for the 3-month full freight service) apply to the new, cheap six-month deal they offered me, AND I got a small refund.

Well I did do that and had to get into a word by word semantic battle with the non english speaker on the phone to get this done. I have an emailed confirmation of this from Sirius XM.

Noted. If I ever do this, I'll just record the call. Even though I am in an all party notification state, they have a notification at the beginning of the call saying it may be recorded, so I have the right to record the call too.

They don’t sell lifetime subscription anymore ... I do the $25 every 5 months as well have been for 10 years ... they don’t even bother going though all the other plans they just offer me the 5 months at $25 off the bat ... also guys always do a one time payment that way they don’t have your credit card on file and they can’t charge you if you forget to call in ... however they will send you an invoice in the mail to renew
