So its not a part issue holdup
ITS A PATENT ISSUE PROBLEM ?
This is what it always has been. It's been blatantly obvious the whole time too many.

But the easier conclusion is a part hold up.

Then we might not see a V1 for 6 months
or longer
Mike must be in meetings with lawyers all day chewing up legal fees
The longer it takes the more expensive the V1 will be when/if it returns

No, he has his patents. And his improvements to the patents are slowly working their way through the system.

Its a part issue holdup. It's either:
  • V1 Gen 3 (current). Some discussions have pointed to the On/Off Volume Mute Volume momentary push to Mute switch part. (@Transporter)
  • V1 Gen 4 (new). Approval to the improved Combined display patent (on 4/16/2019) requires a LCD display part to show the multiple signals. The new display part has been difficult to source and has led to the current production downtime.
  • V1 Gen 4 (new). The display and switch are both hard to source, and are causing the current downtime.
  • Some other reason (Catchall)

Application 15/486,852 is on the glide path for becoming a patent by the end of the 2019.

On 07/02/2019, Valentine agreed this application would co-terminate on April 27, 2035 with Patent 9658319, the original High Probability of intercept detector patent.
On 07/15/2019, the Reasons for Allowance transaction occurred.

Based on History, my SWAG is:
  • By 08/09/2019, Verification will be complete, and the Notice of Allowance will go out.
  • By 11/25/2019, the Patent Issue Notification will go out.
  • By 12/15/2019, the new Patent will be in the books.

Happy Holidays!

On a side note, more work needs to be done on Application 15/486,873. On 6/11/2019, Valentine agreed to split this application into two parts (Group I: signal identification through frequency analysis, Group II: signal selection based on pulse shape analysis), and focus on the Group I claims.

On 07/18/2019, the Information Disclosures were considered, and the application was (Non-Final) rejected. So Valentine will need to modify this application.

@Tallyho: Any response to my SWAGs??
:tallyno:
Looks on target to me.

Will Mike pursue the outstanding patents before releasing any updates so that we won't see a new V1 for years to come? Or has his patience finally paid off so he can release his swan song within the year? Tune in next time for another exciting episode of Mystery Patent Theater.

So are you saying that on 8/10/19 Mike can ship or build and ship once this patent is posted ?

Your best bet is to ignore anything about the patent applications. The patent applications are a separate issue from his ability to manufacture. 2 of the 3 current applications are "software" related (historically $79 upgrade). The third application is a revised hardware design (historically $289? upgrade).

Now the patents that got approved in April 2019, are a different story. Combined with the patent approved in 2017, becomes a new hardware platform. So will we see Gen 4 sooner or later. Only time will tell.

Tune in next time for another exciting episode of Mystery Patent Theater.

Hi Guys, I'm sorry I didn't get chance to read all the comments as it is a very long thread, so please excuse me if I missed something, but...

Do you guys know much about the patent process? This is my main occupation! I could look into the matter of this application further if you have specific questions about the timelines, what the claims actually mean etc. Also in my experience, some of the technical details can be deliberately confusing and misleading. My friends in Chemistry frequently rubbished the disclosures in patents as they could never reproduce the results, likewise I have frequently encountered similar issues. Therefore take the disclosure with a pitch of salt. Basically for the purpose of trying to understand the technical content, you're better of ignoring the claims completely.

Also a continuation in part is something peculiar to the US patent system, this generally can come unstuck if he's trying to apply in other countries. If anyone in New Zealand or Australia wants to work in this area, chances are the patent hasn't even been applied for. The patent system is generally too complex for members of the public to be able to work with, 99.99% of private applications get withdrawn. Using patent attorney's does generally cost large sums of money. My last search for instance indicated there was not a single patent covering anything radar detector related in New Zealand.

SO it looks like the patent will be granted sooner than that. I truly believe a new V1 is about to be released!

Curious if Transporter still thinks they are still just back-ordered on a part. lol

Would we still be able to send in our old V1 for the new updated model?

I can't imagine that Valentine would stop doing that.

The timeframe for patent release hasn't changed since we were updated by @imaitguy. It's generally a little over 4 months from Reasons for Allowance to Patent Issue Date.

For example:

We are still looking at a December 2019 patent issue with an updated V1 release in whatever timeframe Mike Valentine feels like, between now and eternity.

But with this being the final patent, the allowance may be all what he was waiting for. Anything after that is a formality.

Sorry, to burst your bubble, but this is just one of THREE patent applications titled "High Probability of Intercept Radar Detector". The original patent (also titled "High Probability of Intercept Radar Detector") was approved in 2017, but we haven't seen a detector based on that design yet.
