Even when I’m relaxing on the weekend, people complain. You gotta love the internet...
I didn't sense namwoljr to be "complaining" as you put it...... and while I'm a HUGE fan of your work and contributions to the cause, and in fact your videos is what brought me to this site (yes, guys, you have Vortex to blame for that...grin), please don't feel like you have any duty to be on the internet on the weekends for us so that you can work on your videos or respond to comments about them, especially if you're going to passively aggressively guilt trip someone for your choosing to get online, see what they said and feel the need to immedietly respond and be overly defensive while doing so. ;)

(Put away the pitch forks everyone, keep reading)

I watched your live stream as well, despite the technical challenges that Youtube gave you, and the subsequent one you did for us V1 owners who bitched in the comments (like I did) about your not even mentioning V1 in the stream... thank you for the follow up video. Despite no news in this area, you jumped on and did a video and that speaks very highly of you as a Youtuber... thank you.

I think right now, some of us V1 owners needing upgrades or additional units feel pretty abandoned by our supplier after 3 months of no news, and I think watching your video, while not your fault in any way may have triggered that abandonment again for some (including me) by your not even mentioning such a big player. You were right, there was nothing to add but it was just a trigger, I know it was for me and I commented in the video comments, it may have been for namwoljr as well but I still don't see any negative in his comment which did include a compliment, but I'd have been just as hurt by your response as I assume he was.

While at the risk of pissing off even more of the board members by saying something to such a key member of the site (as I was recently told that all I am here is argumentative and angry with male board members, no hard task when I don't think there are any other female one, and while I may not add a lot in post value with all you much more qualified to speak on this topic, Vortex included, I have contributed/supported behind the scenes in other areas that I could where possible (donations)), we were all new to this stuff at some point, and I do believe in new members knowing that their thoughts are just as valuable as people like you who have done immeasurable positive for our hobby, and namwoljr needs to know he can speak openly without fearing it will be misinterpreted and turned back on him as it could have been taken.

I've seen it a lot more on another board I'm on (Radio Reference), you all here are awesome compared to over there. Over there you can't even make a comment or post without people taking it the wrong way, that you're demeaning them or complaining, it's society these days, there is no such thing as dialog, everyone is defensive from the start. It's draining and it takes all the fun out of being part of it, eventually you stop contributing and that's when boards die. I keep telling myself to not bother contributing over there (where I pay to be a member I might add) as everything gets taken wrong, even when I just post a cute link (example below). Eventually having to ask them to just delete the entire thread for me.... and for how often I experience this, it would be so terribly easy to say "oh, they just have a problem with women" but comments like that are cheap and insulting.... As Rodney King said "Can't we all just get along and not take everything so personally as an attack". Well, yea fine, ok, I added the part in red, but I'm sure he was thinking of that when they were assisting him to the ground with their batons.

I'd hate myself or others to get that same bad atitude here because things are taken the wrong way or are told we add no value or are argumentative with the male members.

You are both equally valuable to me on this board... Vortex (and others) just please be patient with us Valentine 1 owners at present, we're a bit "walking wounded" when it comes to us commenting on V1 related posts or items...

Hopefully when this all is behind us and we're using our new V1.1 detector we'll look back and laugh... till then, Vortex, please keep up the fantastic work on what you do... and take a breath, you don't owe us anything on a weekend, and if you think your "me time" is sparse now..... it's about to get a lot shorter... congrats again Dad. :cheerleader:

Note: 107 posts (namwoljr's post count) may not be considered "new member" here but I still consider myself VERY new with my over 250, and have appreciated the time's a person here has supported or defended me.

When it's all said and done, at the end of the day, the only thing that really matters to me, is that in the top left corner of each of these pages, behind that link called "Reports", I don't see anything that I wrote. ;)

You may all now go pick up your pitch forks, I put them over there on the camp fire (quickly leaving the area).

Luv ya both...

Unfortunately, the patents are old news. It's all a matter of when VR starts putting to use. He's had patents approved in 2015 and 2017 that we haven't seen, and he's still filing applications for improvements to existing patents. He has a methods to take care of a lot of nuisance signals, but is waiting on a patent to pull the trigger.

@woopies started this thread almost 2 years ago, and we're still talking about it, sight unseen.
Come on, Valentine. Stop the teasing and get to using!

I wonder if Mike would ever put something like an integrated dash cam into one of his detectors or even make an accessory that attaches to the side of the detector. Hmm.

Patent Application Status
15/486,852 - High Probability of Intercept Radar Detector (updated 7/2/2019)

  • Amended claims 7,8,20,21 to say "further comprising" rather than merely "comprising"
  • Claims 1 & 14 were rejected on the ground of double patenting of US Patent 9,658,319
  • Filed a terminal disclaimer. (Essentially, if application is approved, it will terminate at same time as patent 9,658,319 (in 2035))
15/486,873 - High Probability of Intercept Radar Detector (updated 6/11/2019)
  • Moving forward with Group 1 claims involving signal identification through frequency analysis
  • Group 2 involving signal selection based on pulse shape analysis was split out from this application
15/486,873 - High Probability of Intercept Radar Detector (updated 4/29/2019)
  • Rejected based on prior art on 4/29/2019
  • Response from Valentine due by 7/29/2019.

can you splain in a sentence what’s going on for us patent status dummies? Who is claiming, who is amending? Who is filing? Seems like grass grows faster than this process.

Perfect. Another rejection pushing back a possible new V1.

Well, this is the Valentine Forum, so this is about patent applications by Valentine Research/Mike Valentine and team. Have you read any of the posts on the previous 24 pages, if not, they will provide a lot of the history. Getting things patented is a long process, it's much easier to steal another's IP or claim ignorance.

Perfect. Another rejection pushing back a possible new V1.
The rejections happened months ago, this is just VRs responses to them. A new V1 is coming. His trifecta of new patents were completed earlier this year. Nothing has been pushed back. MV is just still working away on improving his new platform (Gen 4) and fixing nuisance signals.

You all need to read the threads, and not just respond to the latest postings to really have a good idea of what's going on. @woopies started this thread 2 years ago. Patents in this genre/area take 2.5 - 4 years to get approved, if they are not rejected or abandoned.

@Deadhead1971 All you really need to know is that VR has stuff in the pipeline. We may or may it see it so don't hold your breath. The current V1 is a workhorse and won't let you down in moderate terrain (think flats, deserts). Moreover, due to its high situational awareness you can respond appropriately (ie speed up or slow down ;D). In other words, have fun and keep driving.

I was thinking he would use the Holiday to get his ducks in a row and launch a new v1 tomorrow. Maybe wishful thinking but with 96 hours of locked doors taking no calls its seemed like a great opportunity to turn the page :) Many products come to market with patents pending so maybe...........

Selling products with a patent "pending status" is not in VR's business model. MV could always change his mind about that but don't count on it.

True I have spoke with him several times in the past 20 or so years and he is a completest along with a bit controlling but at this juncture of his life he may just go for it :). The fact that he has not sold a thing in 4 months weights heavy on a guy like MV. I think his plan was 2 months clear old stock etc and bring out the updated unit. The extra 60 days i'm sure is killing his mojo.... This is all speculation but I bet none of us believe they ran out of a part etc. Only thing I can't figure out is why would he pull the plug on the one unit without all patents approved for the new detector?

The only two things Valentine Research hasn't sold in the last 4 months are brand new V1s and $289 full upgrades! I know for a fact VR has sold a V1 Connect LE because I bought one plus a hardwire kit. Yes in everyone's opinion he is not selling his main item, but he does have sales, they are doing repairs, and they are doing $79 updates.

I was not implying Mike needs the money.. All I'm stating is MV wants to be in the game not watching from the sideline.

I heard he is going to stop making detectors and start making radar guns instead. :)

This doesn’t bother me much, I will be excited to see what Mr. V unveils as his ready for consumer product. I am more excited to own a finished product not pay a bunch for it then help develop it.

Thanks to everyone staying apprised on relevant information!

Can you clarify what you mean by Mr. V is ready for a consumer product?

A 100% ready to rock product by what is described as a completist. His main product (still pretty awesome) is not being sold while this is happening, so I am pretty excited to see what will be “good enough” for his name to get printed on it.

I understand the R7 was a pushed out early and there may (or may not) be QC issues (manufacturing and/or programming) issues that came with that. Testing was/is still underway. But it was still full price.
