Ok guys, I need to chime in here and add an experience I had last night for the purpose of keeping track of this possible bug/issue. First a little history.

I am running Uniden R1's with 1.30 FW
My commute takes me by a Baseball field daily that has a stalker 34.7 powered up 24/7. Me and My girlfriend work the same place, different jobs and hours by 1 hour and drive the same route by this ball field daily. Me 2-10 her 2:30- 11. She runs my WB Magnum. We always get a half dozen blips passing by the field going and coming home every day like clock work. Yesterday, on the way in a few blips like usual. I was running one solo R1 yesterday and on the way home I saw the lights on and obviously there was a game going on, drive by and the R1 is Silent, not one peep. The normal freq is around 34.680-695. I was running ka wide. I immediately went thru my settings to check if I had turned off ka by mistake or something, all settings were fine.
Highway, k narrow,ka wide, k filter on, ka filter off Laser on. So I asked my girlfriend when she got home if the Magnum alerted passing the ball field, and she said yea and it was a cop freq 34.6 or 34.7.

Sooo I have added #2 R1 to the rear window and I will be tracking this every day. I will report in this thread any cases of either unit sleeping when passing the ball field. If last night my R1 was asleep, we know one thing for sure, It was not from running another RD in the same vehicle. Also to note, My iphone was in my pocket where I always drive with it.

Was it on? The radar at the ballfield I mean. Was it down for maintenance or a power supply went out? Lots of things to consider before i would suspect my RD.

I think paranoia has set in; I don't have one (R1/3), and I kinda, sorta got the Heebie jeebies.

I thought, maybe it is broke and not working tonight, because certainly it would be on with a game being played. Also, if it was off it would be the first time it was off in the last 5 months of me driving by daily. And like I said, my girlfriend passed by an hour later and it was on and her WB Magnum alerted like it does every day. So I dunno, was it asleep, or was the gun off for a little while?

I will monitor it daily and see if I have any more occurrences.

Did you try to scroll through "City/highway/ADV" to see if that resolved the problem? Power off then on? That did it for me when it happened. I had this happen early on (3rd day or so with it) but it has not happened since I pull my R1 off the window out of direct sunlight (heat) while parked--- this is still theory but I have not had a problem since.

Might be worth picking up a cheap radar gun off eBay so you have something to test with the next time you suspect it's sleeping on the job. Something like a Bushnell or PocketRadar, but I've also seen Ka band guns go for ~$100.

I use my Note 5 A920 and hold it up to the R1 if I feel it's happening and it alerts to X band every time I do...

It happened at around 10 PM at night so heat not related in my case. It normally alerts passing the ball field for about 3-5 seconds. When it was silent I went into menu and checked all settings, thinking maybe I had accidently turned off Ka band, but ka was on. I am not sure why it didn't alert. Possible they had the gun off at the time I drove by, but who knows. Like I said I drive by every day so if they do not both alert as I drive by I will report back with my findings and video.

I'll admit I don't read every single word and I sometimes skim posts so I may have missed this.

Are these handheld radar guns or fixed? If this is handheld then I could see it being pointed down throughout the baseball game. And obviously not on in between innings

We have about a dozen of these signs in our area and they all have gone out of commission randomly for servicing. Again its very random but it does happen. Every 4 or 5 months or so one of them will be off for only a day or two tops.

No pun intended but I may be way off base on the last post. I was thinking the KA guns were being used at the ballfield. Strike three I'm out.

This is a fixed stalker 34.7 gun that is mounted behind home plate, and is part of the billboard info system to show the speed of each pitch. I speculate, It has been on 24/7 every minute of every day for the last 6 months, because every time I have driven by in the last 6 months I have gotten a alert. That's why driving by the other day and the Uniden remaining silent was so out of the ordinary and caught my attention.

Now since I am running 2 R1's I get an alert from each one with each pass, 1st the front, then the rear for a few seconds each. Now If I drive by and either one remains silent and the other alerts, that would indicate maybe the silent one is taking a nap. This is what I plan to monitor. Thus far both have alerted each pass since installing the 2nd one yesterday.

Here is an example of what I am talking about. Passing the ball field on left last night, you can see the lights. Both alerted as usual :).

You have the same tones on both?
Yep, but I have them in dark mode so a quick glance in the rear mirror or up at the front one identifies front from rear. Also the volume makes it easy to tell if its rear of not. If Dark mode was not an option, I would set up the rear with the stock tones and the front with the ones I am currently running to make it easier.

Ok so after monitoring a couple days I thought if one alerted passing the Stalker at the ballfield and the other was quiet It might indicate a sleeping beauty behavior, but now I am not so sure. Instead of answers as to what is going on I now am confused and have more questions. Sorry the video is useless due to the audio being all static. I think the sd card was toast and has now been swapped out. Ok so last night passing the ball field heading north Stalker is on, but no alert from front R1. SOooo WTF happened to the front R1? Was the signal not strong enough for it to pick it up due to planet alignment, menstrual cycle or some other factors like my Iphone in the cradle one foot away? Why did the WB Magnum pick it up on every pass when I was running it?

So I am left with this belief from my completely unscientific experiment. I do not believe there is a sleeping beauty issue going on here. Why, because of the behavior I have experienced in other encounters. When the signal is weak and off axis sometimes only one will alert in passing, sometimes both. I believe this is normal and due to changes in humidity etc. As fas as why the Magnum alerted almost every pass and the R1 is sometimes silent, I believe I am seeing the difference in off axis performance between the M3 and the R1 and nothing else. The M3 picks it up every pass, the R1 90% of the time.
