I was interested in using a DSP 9200 as a ghetto arrow and came across it's replacement the iRAD. The site didn't really have much info so I sent an e mail asking for more details. It's not much, but this is the response I got. They essentially call it the same. Anyway I thought you guys who are interested in the iRad, or just keeping up with Cobras products would like to see it.

    Good Morning,

The IRAD replaced the DSP 9200BT model. It has the same features as the DSP 9200BT. And the range would be the same. If you have any technical questions you can contact our Technical Department at 773-804-3473.

    Kind Regards,
    Customer Support

Comments/Details: I'm interested in the new iRAD. I want to know if it has the same range or better than the DSP 9200 BT? I haven't seen any video or test results of this unit on your site. Not so much as a comparison test. I would really like to know if this unit has DSP and all of the other features that made the DSP 9200 bt so successful. With so many poor performing models I'm hesitant to buy a Cobra, but after the 9200 I'd like to give one a shot, but I will not until I know more. Thanks!

Yeah, I've seen that. There wasn't really any info on it, that was part of the reason I sent the e mail. I was hoping to get more details. Specifically if it has DSP. If it doesn't it's just another useless Cobra. I sent another e mail back to customer service asking them to foward my request to Tech Services. My question was pointed, I asked again, does it have DSP? It's not listed in the spec sheet on their site. I guess we'll see.

So I contacted their technical department. Again, I asked specifically if the iRAD had the 9200's DSP. Because if you go online and look at the specs for both, the iRAD doesn't list DSP and the 9200 does. I got almost the same exact response. "It has the same features" So either there's a typo on the iRAD specs and it's there, or I'm getting the we don't want you to know it's not there B.S response. Gonna shop for a DFR6 for my ghetto arrow after the latest nonsense from Cobrascort. Just wanted to give anybody that's following this or interested in the iRAD an update.

It upsets me when a company gives poor customer service. But it can also be revealing about the company.

It seems that the reading between the lines would indicate it is the same internal horn platform but an updated aesthetics. I looked into it a little bit myself. From my own personal observations, It looks like the iRAD uses an OLED screen where as the 9200BT uses an LCD screen. In the 9200BT product video I saw, it was very hard to read the screen. The iRAD is much easier to read it appears. The buttons appear to be better on the iRAD as well, easier to see and press while operating a vehicle.

Edit notes: corrected to say iRAD uses an OLED display.
