I think getting assistance in this endeavor from some of the advanced members would be a huge thing to help get this going. Make teams and team leaders. Just a thought.
Having regional teams isn't a bad idea when it comes to searching/submitting FOIA requests for purchases by local/state LE agencies. You don't want two or three people contacting the same department/agency asking what gear they are using. Might raise a few questions and bring some unwanted attention to this endeavor.

Right now, myself and @SquirrelMaster are the primary development team for it but we'd love to collaborate with you and go from there - we're in the very early stages of all of this (but rapidly increasing toward development launch). If you want to hop into RocketChat that would 100% be the best way to collaborate regarding this specific project.

Either way I'll discuss this with SM and we'll be in touch soon.
I joined the Rocket Chat. Seems to be a pretty general conversation unless I’m missing something for development. I’ve got it on my phone and tablet. I tried clicking threads figuring there might be something there but it never does anything.
Rdfgs is a ghost town, is that where Dev talk is meant to take place?

Most of the rdfgs talk happens in a private channel between me and xyd as we are the two people that will be workking on it. The rdfgs channel was kind of a llqv holder but fe free to start posting there questions and ideas and we can move the more public conversations there :)

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is making it android / apple car play compatible. That would make a big difference (at least to me). That way we can put our 7,8,9" screens to use for something.

Haven't browsed through the entire thread, so apologies if this has already been brought up.

Being able to sign up for alerts in specific states/regions for new info and/or certain triggers (MRCD/MRCT, DALA, DE, other VPR) would be awesome.

Automated "recommended settings" based on location and database entries. Ideally, check boxes for each region of interest and select RD from a drop-down, get setting output.

As I understand it, making an app Android Auto / Apple Carplay compatible is currently not up to the developer. Android / Apple have to allow it.

Just like Waze, there will need to be editors to make corrections that members observe, so a Report Threat Issue button would be essential.

Yeah these things will be integrated and policed by the app's users, and devs/a team to deal with this specifically.

Really looking forward to this app. Highway Radar is a rough version of what I imagine RDFGS 2.0 will be and that little app is a massive improvement over running Daze with FR24 etc. Looking forward to being a beta tester.

Yeah, honestly, part of me wishes that the developers of apps like this (and similar) would instead of continuing with their app development, join the RDFGSv2 development team instead.

I can't force them to do that or not proceed with their own app, but it would be more beneficial to the community if a single app had more developers, etc. But I think that's really an unrealistic idea/request, and considering that the RDFGSv2 app is going to be subscription-based, I don't know how that would all tie in with many developers as opposed to just 2 or 3 RDF-dedicated developers here, including myself, working on a single app.

Hrm...

I would be cool to have a library in the app of the police cruiser paint schemes od the vehicles reported. It would be handy for people using the app that are not familar with that department or state vehicles

And a library of cruiser models, too, with front and rear photos.

I have read through a lot of the information here, but one thing I haven't seen (or more likely - missed)

I think it would be great if the information generated by users who flag radar / laser was used to help populate the geographical survey page - Provided the information on K/Ka/LSR was present. (On a side note, I think the inclusion of common frequencies would be a nice addition on the Geographical Survey page.)

I am assuming that's already the plan, since the description of this sub includes "...catalogs and analyzes various databases (such as RLCs) ..."

Yesterday I spotted an Arkansas SP from the tail lights on my early morning drive. I wonder if there is a way to use a camera look for tailgates associated with Police package cruisers? Even better if it could flag them and warn you on approach.

That's a frighteningly good concept if it can be filtered somehow. For example, most Dodge Chargers aren't cops, so it would be challenging to filter out the civilians.

I saw a few years ago a green minivan (had to be at least 5 years old too) being used by a local department here.

I also saw a comedian back in '05 in ND who was making jokes about a getting pulled over by a family of 5.

We are looking at integrating ALPR into the device/smartphone camera aspect so doing something like this with recognition algorithms is absolutely possible.

You can't possibly imagine how much I'm looking forward to beta testing this app. It's beyond intriguing.

Adding that an android wear app may be nice. Just tap a quick button to report or get a vibration/sound on your smartwatch when police reported ahead.
Oh hell yeah! I already wear a Garmin Smart Watch. Push notifications would be the bees knees!
