RL EDGES OUT R3 - Extreme Off-Axis

My RL edges out R3 - RL mounted on blendmount vs R3 on visor mount vids 1&2. The I moved R3 to windshield mount in a lower position than RL and R3 still lost. Then I moved the R3 up higher on windshield still slightly lower than RL and finally the R3 wins by .1 second maybe. Not bad for 10+ year old technology.

I kown u can't run them together...

FYI- Source is 34.7 and across intersection at red light.

I run my RL, R3 and Plus. The RL goes first, the R3 and then the Plus. But the Plus is getting falses from the R3 at Ka 35.6.

Yeah when I ran them together the redline edged the R3 by 1 second or 2. When I ran the R3 independently, I was getting moon detections. I had them separated 35". Your better off running them independently. They do interfere.

will do. the leo was working a stalled car and i ran out of time. i should have ran independent to start with. several folks reporting that R3 is completely blanking the RL alerts. but that's not the case with mine. looks like the RL is killing the R3.

I thought the RL normally did not bother others?

It doesn't affect them a lot most of the time, but it certainly CAN.

More likely, the R3 is putting RL to sleep. Also, what are your R3 settings ??

the results is similar to one of hiddencam vids where the RL alerted just ahead of the R3 near the kill zone and he was running independent.

In that same run the R3 got a moon sniff but dropped the signal and picked the single back up right before the kill zone and behind the RL. So if HC would have started that course a little shorter it would appear that the RL would win by a nose - i love to see hiddencam run that scenario. so maybe i should have started a longer run at the leo to give the r3 a chance at a moon sniff.

I just think testing needs to be done with independent runs.

Like PointerCone said what setting on the detectors were you using?

R3 - all filters & pops are off, Ka Narrow, K wide, x off.

RL - all filters & pop are off, ka 2/5/8 rdr off, k & x off.

- - - Updated - - -

just added a map of the area. i started out at ~1.4 miles from the leo source and the alerts were at ~2,500' from the leo. this is heavy terrain and traffic.

p.s. i apologize for the iphone vids - i was out running errands when i came up on the opportunity and of course my gopro was at home on the charger.

These two detectors have been proven to interfere with each other. Try testing them independently and see how it does.
i noticed that the closer i mounted the two the better the range on the R3. it appears in these vids that the visor mount has more impact on the R3's range that the distance between the two.

R3's range improved when i moved it from the visor to the windshield. The R3 improved even more when placed on a higher position on the windshield.

In both cases the windshield positions were both closer to the RL vs the visor mount location. Also, note that the visor mount was behind the RL whereas both windshield positions were in front of the RL.

Re: RL EDGES OUT R3 - Extreme Off-Axis

Closer to the windshield the better.

It's why I hate most of these new mounts. Like Escorts.

We had an old member who tested RDs closer and further away from the windshield and there was definitely a slight Improvement when it was mounted closer to the glass.

i'm i getting a false from my r3?

just noticed today that i'm getting 35.606 from the RL in the same area that's a slim chance for a leo. i circled the area and nothing from the r3 - just the RL in both directions as i circle the area.

the RL is on the back glass in ghetto arrow mode and about 5-6 feet from the r3. also, i have never encountered a 35.5 leo on the high end of 35.5
