TBD if this is an issue or not, but 10 days into owning, my R3 today didn't false at all, with one exception, on my normal commute. What got my interest was I was behind a Buick which always triggers an alert with BSM, and I could see the indicator on the side mirror, so I know it was firing. OK, maybe it's the sensitivity/K filter doing it's job. I switch to Highway mode - nothing. As I'm passing it, nothing. Still in highway mode, I pass a Kroger that I have marked - nothing (not even the "Mute Mem" notification, so I know it didn't get the signal, assuming the marked locations are still blocked in highway mode - this I am not sure of). The only blip I got was a spot that is always hit or miss, it's actually in a neighborhood and about 50% of the time I get something, 50% I don't. So the inconsistency has me concerned/confused. One possibility is that perhaps the store was not open yet so the K band doors were not operating, but the Buick thing has me concerned.

The drive home will give more info. If I feel there is an issue, I will re-flash in recovery mode and reset before contacting Uniden.
That kind of behavior with BSM signals is totally normal. My R1 will filter out most Buicks no problem but sometimes they will punch through. Same thing with Acura/Honda. I would be more concerned with how it is responding to fixed sources though that can vary too.

just took it out on my lunch break to go pickup the new Woodward book and found it to be behaving normally. Switched by to Advanced mode and driving happy :) I was pleased to see Quietride works even in Highway mode, and that highway mode isn't an overwrite of all settings like it is on other detectors.

I updated my R3 a month ago and it's been very quiet for a month. like 0 alert. I was driving my wife car this am and passed a stationary k band source and my wife DFR7 alerted me half a mile away. Went the same road today using my car with the R3 and I could see the same speed sign flashing my speed , but the R3 was dead silent. Something wrong with it I`m sure. It's been very oddly quiet.

I`m going to try to re flash it again.

Make sure you do a factory reset after the update.
Can anyone help me document an R3 silence issue( unable to detect any frequency at all) but everything else works fine like the power , LED, sound etc.

My R3 done. I have to exchange it with a new one from my Extended warranty card that I used when I bought it.

I’ve read a couple of members here have the same issue. I also have an R1 that confirmed that my R3 is defective.

Use the link above that Deadhead listed. It's strictly for documentation to see if there is a pattern to certain batches of units.

R3 having weird issue with my new daily driver, 2019 VW Jetta S:
Getting a repetitive falsing on K band 24.079.
X off, K on, K & KA pop off, Segmented 2/5/8, Running the latest firmware.

This is actually the 2nd R3, sent the first back thinking I had a lemon but this new one is doing the same thing.
Could it be falsing from some kind of collision avoidance radar in my car?

Try:
K filter ON
K 70%
TSF ON

--- DOUBLEPOST MERGED ---

@Deadhead1971 has a thread where he is keeping track of different issues. Maybe he could edit the first post to describe particular issues a bit more?

www.rdforum.org: SN# for R3 and R1 Issues / No Issues
I’ll add that as a project

Won't that reduce the K sensitivity/reaction time? I already have both K filter and K Narrow on.
All the nannies in these new cars really suck. If I do have some kind of radar running, I might have to code it out in VCDS, if that's possible

@loudspl It will reduce sensitivity just a little at 70%. Keep in mind that “city” mode for the Uniden and “Auto” mode for the escort reduces K down to around 18-20%. So 70% is not much of a penalty. TSF may help with filtering.

This may not help but it’s a starting point.

It could be your car if it’s falsing to K all the time.

It helped some, but still getting the constant falsing.
Normally, cars have an option to turn off driver assistance stuff in the media center settings.
This is a 2019 base model, and there is no option to be found on the car's menu.
I may have to do coding in VCDS to turn that crap off. I definitely don't need radar nannies, especially when they make my detector false!! :argh:

If anyone out there has a 2019 Jetta, feel free to chime in!

Maybe there’s a fuse in the fuse box you can remove, not sure

Hello,

New to the R1 forum. Recently picked up an R1 after deciding sending my STi magnum in for repairs a fourth time was too much.
My R1 has the latest firmware 1.46 i think. Hard wired to a Uniden smartwire.

My issue is that from the first day I plugged it in it started with a K alert. The area was suberbia. No moving cars, no sensors, no anything but parked cars and trees. I set every filter (K and K narrow), turned on city mode, even reduced the K sensitivity to 60%, it kept chirping. My car is an 07 with no fancy driver assist sensors

Driving around town in city mode and K filter on it chirps all the time. Is this normal for the R1? Reason I got it was due to reviews stating it was better than average at reducing false K alerts from motion sensors and car sensors. It appears to be better than average at giving false K readings.

Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thanks

What FW Version are you running?
Also, R1 is more of a road warrior detector.
The R3 has a gps and can do lock outs.

Got an R3 today. Had an issue with the display so I updated the FW and am still having the same issue. Probably going to return to Best Buy and try another unless anyone else has suggestions.
The display seems to be glitchy at random times and at random spots. Sometimes all will be fine, sometimes it will be really screwy. Anyone had experience with this?

Guess I'll take the Stang out tomorrow to my local (hour away) Best Buy. Function seems fine so might be a fun drive.
