To help the preorder group get up and running more quickly, and given Tom's comment to not rely on the manual from the FCC site, would beta users please let us know what settings you've decided to run?

I think this will depend greatly on where you live...Though to get more insight on adjusting the sensitivity or dB's of K and Ka would be sweet!

I understand 90% is -1.0 dB and 80% is -2.0 dB but it would be great to see how that translates in a real encounter. Like how many actual feet of detection do we lose when we start dialing in those settings.

Can't wait to get this damn thing in my hands!

Really appreciate the settings info.

Any concerns with Ka narrow? Drifting or old guns?

Also, I have traffic sensing radar, so I have to run tsf. Any test results or concerns with tsf on? I'm assuming I'll miss I/o shots potentially.

I'm probably not going to use KA Narrow since I have a local gun on 33.8 that my RX65 m4 picks up as 33.691. If this frequency is accurate would KA Narrow miss it? Either this gun is way off or the frequency reading on my RX65M4 is off.

HC so you have X band in your neck of the woods?

I use both hwy mode and city mode, depending on where I am. Sometimes on the highway I'll switch to city if a sudden flock of GM vehicles surround me with their BSMs and I'm stuck behind/amongst them. Quick push of the right (front) button and switch on the fly. Or in populated city areas I'll use city mode. But for the most part it's hwy mode unless annoyed by K falses, then it's city (with appropriate risk assessment and speeds).

45 for quiet ride, but others might like that a bit lower.

I've seen it in a few areas I travel, albeit extremely rarely (Louisiana, Missouri and once not far from Pine Bluff, AR), so I keep it on.

Here's the one in Hammond, LA a year ago:

Yes, some slight concern in northern AR where I saw a trooper running 34.855. So I'll definitely run wide in THAT area! I'll probably flip between wide and narrow just to keep aware of possible out of tune guns. Any doubt, leave it in wide. Especially considering the great results on those two 35.5 test courses showed no significant difference. RF and FF detections were about the same.

Here's that out of tune 34.7:

Oh, and yes, TSF slows K reactivity down. I really need to make a video of K reactivity with various settings. Maybe in the next few days I'll do that.

Thanks, a quick video to test your I/O with tsf on would be awesome.

Is K narrow safe to run without the potential of missing a K band alert?

On a similar note, are there any known k-band guns (or drifted k-band guns) that would fall outside of k narrow?

Yes, quite safe, the R-series K narrow is 24.080 - 24.200. LEOs most often/usually transmit in the 24.110 - 24.160 range, but once recently I saw as low as 24.094 (Madisonville, TN).

That would be an extremely rare sighting if you found a LEO outside the narrow range, but certainly not impossible.

If there's any doubt, run K wide for a while in your areas and make sure there are no K Unicorns, then weigh up whether the extremely small risk is worth the reward of reduced falses in narrow. Maybe switch back and forth every now (when LEOs are in sight with no alerts) just to make sure you're safe in narrow. After a while you'll get a lot more comfortable once you see how rare it is to see low numbers.

And if you're traveling new territory at warp speeds, definitely consider using K wide so you don't suffer from Murphys Law.

That's very good advice!

Running Ka wide, have you noticed a lot of false alerts? And if so, has the Ka filter addressed those falses when running with the filter on?

No, only a few Ka falses in wide, and yes, the Ka filter stops them.

I personally won't be running wide+filter though. Reactivity takes a bit of a hit. @Jag42 reported 500 or 600 millisecond IO ability the other day. (Edit: So the delay turns out to be only .3 seconds). I forgot to test wide the other day so it's not in my video. I'll probably do one later today along with K.

here's the video showing reactivity with Ka wide+Ka Filter on.
