Both detectors are configured the same. Traffic & K Filter off on the R3 and Redline has TSR OFF - With the amount of false K alerts on each detector it would not be possible today to run both detectors with K filters off but this was just a comparison test to compare the scanning capability of the Uniden vs the long time beast the Escort Redline.

After viewing the video the one time the Redline did go off it looks like POP Mode turned off if you look at the display on the BEE III. I guess there is a period when the BEE will exit this mode.

Thanks for the test and sharing Tom. Excuse my ignorance, I thought the Bee was 33.8 KA. Is the POP mode in K band?

Latch time on the R3 looks to be about 5-6 seconds?

These are 67ms POP shots, right?

I assume so.. Manual does not state specifically but this is what they have put in specifications on prior models.

.67 ms unit I believe!!
That seems way too fast. The only POP modes I am aware of are 16ms and 67ms.

From @Vortex : http://www.vortexradar.com/2015/11/pop-radar/
POP Speed
So how fast is POP, exactly? Well there’s actually two different speeds for POP. You have 67 ms POP from guns like the Bee III (Ka band) and the Enforcer (K and Ka band), and you have even faster 16 ms POP from the Z25 and Z35 (K band only).
Thus I assume the BEE III operates with a 67ms POP shot on K band as well, although as BRD said there is nothing in the manual about it.

Tom how does running with K POP on impact the K filter? For the V1 running with TMF2 turns off K POP.

Or did the detector not have K POP on? Can you run either POP mode on with the respective band filter on as well?

It will take a few days to drive with it and give you an answer. We only received the production firmware this morning. For reference on last Beta Firmware the R1 & R3 was dead silent to the BEE III K Band Pop Mode. It was just 3 weeks ago that I informed the engineers about this issue and 3 weeks later we have production firmware with detection capability. I have been highly impressed with their ability to hear our complaints and also take action on them so quickly.

Has to be 67ms since the ONLY 16ms units made were the MPH Z25/35 IIRC.......They're NO longer made and in some states are NO longer certified for us as well.

Ok thanks for the response. Seeing what your group has done with the ALPs and now the R1/R3 I have full confidence in this detector. The engineers behind this seem very competent which is why pre-ordered immediately. Congrats on the results, thank you for the video!

Maybe this answer should be for only non public/high level threads, but how far away on a straight flat road would the R3 be able to pick up a POP shot like in the video? 1 Mile? Farther? Just curious what kind of detection range can be expected with POP.

Signal strength isn't different. Just the duration. So range isn't any different, just whether the detector was quick enough to pick up the short burst.

Good Point. I was just thinking the shorter the burst and the farther away the source, the more junk the detector will have to filter thru to catch that brief pulse.

Either way, the R3 is impressive!! Also very impressed with how quick Uniden was able to make changes after Toms recommendation.
