I've had my STI for around 10 years and I used to use it in my simi truck to help break up the boredom of miles of roads. I'm retired now and just use it on my motorcycle and have been happy with it. I'm going for the Magnum up grade rather then buy a new detector. I let them know I wanted my case back and they said it would take a couple of weeks. With shipping and insurance it was $114.00.

Hope you told them to keep the WB LNA...if not it's coming back as a packaged.

It's been mentioned by others before. They sent their WB sti driver in, and came back with a packaged magnum. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

Yes I spelled out "leave WB LNA and magnesium case". They did as they were asked.

Only if the WB board is toast for some reason, other than that they hardly ever change out the LNA--Its just not needed.

You will see a HUGE improvement on K/KA band for sure! Make sure you Segment it 2/5/8 and turn RDR OFF--it will be a beast

So what happens when I Segment 2/5/8 and trurn RDR off? On K band I don't pay much attention to it unless its over two bars. Anything on KA get me attention.

The idea behind segments(2/5/8) is the detector only scans for those frequencies. Those are where legit radar lie. I also run 6(for drifting stalkers). But 2/5/8 is the standard. It cuts down on response time. RDR is very important. With it on it has to scan Ka twice, missing possible I/O shots, and taking longer to alert. That is where the magic lies, RDR OFF. Those hand in hand make the detector very quick and very reactive. That doesn't affect k band. TSR is for k band.

The sensitivity and reactivity go up dramatically
    RDR is the key
It no longer filters Ka and segmented it no longer scans the obscenely wide Ka band so that when john Q trooper squeezes off an off axis half second instant on shot 3 miles away it alerts before he let's off the trigger

Received a email this afternoon letting me know my STI should be returned by end of the day Thursday. I'm excited. I went for a motorcycle ride today and feel unprotected without it.

I got my STI back today and it has a Magnesium case marked STI Magnum. I live in Texas and have it set with 2/5/6/8 and RDR off. I'm not sure what to do with POP so left it on and I don't know what SWS is. It will be Saturday before I can get it on my motorcycle and a couple hundred mile ride. I also left X on?

Nice to hear! Kill Pop and SWS. Pop isn't used. Even if it is, it isn't legal to issue tickets with. And SWS is some message system that isn't used. Kill them both. Don't know about x.

I just got mine back today also.
It appears mine is in a plastic case - not the magnesium.
Not sure how I feel about that.
Mine did not have the bonded LNA so no biggie there.
I'm off to setup with segments and turn RDR off - tho I admit that makes me nervous.
I originally sent the thing in because I need protection against all the false alarms I've been getting.
Most are K band but I'm also getting some off frequency Ka stuff here in Austin.
