    Hi,
Just got an Escalade. Looking to transfer my 2 LI 8.9 heads to the front. Is this good enough in Michigan or have the LEO advanced with new guns wherin LI's will not cut it?, or I will need to get the ALP's??? or other L Jammers.

    Pls advise.

    Thx.

This is my post from another Forum. Now I have to save for ALP for my Sport Bike Guess LI's are history!

After 7 years of driving Michigan roads, had my second Laser encounter, and it was a Dragon!
It was 05: 24 Dark hour, NB I 475 1 mile short of South exit for Detroit Metro airport. Running late for arrival of family from CA.
Wife had radio turned up loud, when ALP alerted “Something Ahead” I reacted by slow down to PSL (70). Replayed dash cam video later and clearly ALP said “Dragon Ahead”. Unfortunately I managed to mute the ALP and had no further audio alerts. 30 Seconds later my V-1 sounds Laser Alert for about 5 seconds, then goes quiet. 10 Seconds later V-1 again sounds for about 10 seconds, then goes quiet.
I am looking and finally see a reflection of car parked is center divider. Not sure if V-1 sounded alert on first contact or not. My dash cam is old and I am not techie enough to figure out how to upload video to u-tube. Would be worthless anyway because never got look at vehicle in center divider. Dash cam does have GPS onboard so I have pretty good clock to compute distance.

After first alert by ALP, traveled 30 seconds, 3000' before V-1 alerted, then 17 seconds till next V-1 alert, another 1700'. Not sure how far from last V-1 alert till I passed vehicle but would guess 5 to 7 seconds. So lets say another 500' This is based on 102 FPS for 70MPH. This means initial shot was close to 5000' for first shot.

My vehicle is black, has all chrome on front blacked out. Front plate has Laser Shield Cover.

Downloaded STATS file when I got home. It said “DRAGONEYE 2 “ as last Laser Alert. :(

It's the only one I've seen reported in Detroit since 'Rocketman68' had the encounter. However, it's likely a newer Lidar & if I remember correctly from another Thread you were considering re-installing your olde L.I.'s...that would be a bad idea - cuz newer DragonEye Lidars require 3 Transponders per side to even have a chance against it !!!

Can you specify the date on this encounter?

This is anecdotal evidence, but I remember an encounter I had on M24 before getting to I-69, a MSP trooper was holding something way too similar to a DragonEye Compact, it’s pretty plausible in my opinion.

My 8.9 LI's with the latest firmware work on everything around here for sure.
