    How to update:

Please do the following to upgrade the dash cam
The firmware will be automatically deleted from Micro SD card after upgrade completed.

    1. Use max. 32GB card formatted by camera or on computer as FAT32
    2. Insert card in camera and connect it to computer using USB cable
    3. Copy the FWA119S.bin on the root of the card
    4. After FWA119S.bin is copied to the card disconnect the camera from computer
    5. Reconnect the camera to your computer and wait few seconds until the camera restart.
The front red LED will be blinking while upgrading.

    My updated observations:
    • You do not have to plug your A119S to your computer. I was able to update by copying the .bin file to a microSD card onto my Mac, and walk the card to my parked car where the A119S is.
    • My A119S has red AND green LEDs (power button). I did not know this before.
    • Settings appear to revert to default, including any custom text.

Can it be done on a Mac?

I plan to copy the .bin file directly onto a microSD card, then bring it to the car. If that doesn't work, I'll try it as instructed (connected to a computer). In my case, also a Mac. If that fails, I'll try a Windows machine.

    Tested:
I took a "junk drawer" microSD card and drag-dropped the .bin file to the card on my Mac.

Inserted card in A119S and powered up.

Green and Red LEDs blink rapidly. Reboots when complete.

Verify: Under MENU, scroll to Firmware Version. (Note: All settings revert to default)

It worked on the Mac. Biggest issue I had was finding a small enough (32gb) microsd card...

Hmm, i dont have the green led.... but it worked...

I used a 128GB SD card for the update, from a Mac, and no issue.

If you run into an issue, you could always partition 32GB and copy the file to that partition.

The A119S is supposed to have slightly better low light performance. The A119, however, records up to 2560x1440 30fps (the A119S does not).

The A119S was much more buggy if what I read is correct. So, did the firmware update improve things?

The only bug I had was one of my units (I own 3) reverting to default settings in a somewhat random manner. I haven't installed v1.4 yet.

Coincidentally, I have the A119S May 2017 version arriving today.. for the 3rd time. (First one sent was the wrong model. Second got lost by delivery).

Really interested to hear your thoughts on the new A119S compared to the other versions you own. I'm not impressed with the Aukey unit I ordered (review forthcoming), and I'm convinced the superior resolution/bit rate of the A119(s) make them a far better and more useful choice.

I watched a few comparison videos highlighting the difference between the units(f stop, FOV), but I'm still undecided.

Actually I only own the A119S. Well, the A119S and the "May 2017" version.

I do know that the original non-S has a lens that also pans left and right as well as up and down. That's one feature I kind of miss.

Hi guys, none of the links from official dropbox seem to work anymore, does anyone happen to have 1.6/1.4 re-uploaded elsewhere?

You're right! I just tried downloading 1.7 and it's "file not found."

    You're looking for 1.6 or 1.4?

@TeeHee: PM me your email address and I'll email you the FW file (.bin). I have versions 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.7 saved for such an event.

Wow... I've had the same dash cam for a year? Impressive.
