So, on Friday I spoke to my countries Stinger dealer/distributor. I'm about ready to cover the rear of my car, I had been hoping to purchase another LAB-14 and fibres/RX to go with it only to find the LAB-14 has been entirely discontinued and now replaced by the Freedom.

In speaking to him they still don't have Poliscan covered yet, nor Dragon for the Freedom, but apparently Stinger has purchased a Poliscan to help, the dealer seems to think there will be an update coming within the next month to cover both of these guns.

Stinger still has the potential (IMO) to be a great defense system, but its checkered past of poor or no problem(thanks Engineering Dept !) solving to known issues found during Testing + normal day-to-day use by Owners has cast a dark cloud upon it. This applies to both the Laser & Radar performance of it.

I may be the only Tester in the U.S. that has Tested the Laser performance of a Fiber system. The install was exceptional & w/o fault & I was really, really impressed w/ the IR energy & shape pattern outputs(much larger than I expected) of the f/o ends (4 in Front + 2 on the Rear). However, it was still vulnerable to a popular Lidar gun used in the U.S. & easily neutralized all other Lidars used in North America.

Defense against the Poliscan requires a whole different install which would leave the Stinger very vulnerable to the typical install required for everyday Lidar encounters.

Perhaps, but it is the first thing I have heard from them for a good long while, so fingers crossed.

I've had a chance to test two different Stinger fiber installs as well including on my own car and had similar issues with vulnerabilities to otherwise simple guns to defeat. I believe there's a few others on the forum who've also had a chance to do it. Once in a while I do hear about successful JTG installs, I think only once or twice max, but the norm is PT's where other jammers are bulletproof.

I had a lot of hope for Stinger, but with their history of updates and them pretty much going dark lately, I don't really have much hope moving forward and personally am focused on other products/companies who are more active and who produce the results we require.

I was really hoping this bought in some competition for ALP but alas, the engineering and response of Stinger has me concerned.

I thought about getting a unit from my friend overseas (not that it will work here in the US but it wasn't money that I could have gambled away), though second guessed it.

I am all for competition but to be honest here I love ALP and all it has to offer and its price point, yes a little steep but it is a grade A system. I am not sure what more ALP could do for the money that it is not already doing?

Whats interesting is that when you put it in your cart, it doesn't tell you how many rx heads and tx fibers it comes with. I think the one in Britian asks you how many RX and TX fibers you need thus increasing the price of the unit.

Let me tell you, if this was 800 bucks for 2RX and 2TX, I would just buy it to test with it. Seems like a fun unit to test with. Not sure if all the guns will be covered but its something new to play with @PY004 :)

At least they are more honest (than Escort) in their marketing...”
    Breakthrough performance

Freedom Laser is also the best protection against laser speed traps that we have ever built. ” The best that we have ever built...may not work, but it’s the best we’ve ever done...

Confirmed with the AU distributor, this price (AUD 949) is for a single laser receiver and laser fiber transmitter, extra RX or TX sensors are $229ea (RRP).

Heard that DragonEye protection is not there yet, so might be worth holding off. The Freedom CPU can plug into the VIP as well, to be controlled from there if required, or stand-alone.
