@beingaware man that is quite a good breakdown, sad though for those who've invested in Stinger units. I find it pretty impressive that the V1 probably still has the industry leading BSM filter. I picked up a V1 after not having one for a little while, but I remember it filtering the new CRVs with BSM systems. I would say the R series is equivalent except it cannot filter CRVs. If I find out CRVs are indeed filtered by the V1 it has the slight edge by the vehicle alone from my experience. The amazing thing is VR released the algo, I believe, over 3 years ago and were talking about these nanny system publicly about 4 years ago or so. Uniden and NetRadar do a really good job as well, def happy with my R. Sorry to hear about your Stinger troubles.

Considering all they have to do is go and log the new threats, I can't see why they keep stuffing up or refusing to log RF and beat it.

This is pretty much all they have to do...

Man, if it really is that simple what are they doing??

The only thing I can think of is because Stinger uses a DSP chip for each patch maybe they're relying solely on software techniques for frequency modulation algos (A/D and Fourier transform). Maybe they just don't have the engineering talent for the programming and necessary math? I believe the V1 has hardware for amplitude and frequency modulation detection which is paired with some code in the microprocessor. VR has even mentioned in their patents once or twice that a DSP could be used rather than relying on a fair amount of hardware, but that greatly complicates the matter.

Uniden and NetRadar's DSP platform appears to be the first RD to really pull off relying on firmware magic and processing power to make magic happen. A lot of people thought Stinger could do it and of course the Max series is a dud.

Stinger looked incredible when it was first introduced but the steep price was a non-starter for me. Glad I hung onto my V1 and waited. Hopefully Net Radar DSP is fully sorted when it's released.
