LOL, my front patch died. When I got it back under warranty, I never put it up. I have the R3 running radar from the front and the rear patch (x,k band off). I do need to get it up so I can compare the 2.

That's another thing with these high end systems. Several years from now, this stuff is sitting out in cold/hot/weather, it's going to quit working. Out of warranty, I'm not dropping $1500 on a replacement patch or $400 on a screen. It's just not happening.

My front/rear radar/ triple front laser is in a landfill somewhere after smashing it to bits and pieces. Switched to alp quint and net radar front and rear and love it. Works great in the US Northeast. Hope that those who stick with Stinger are not too old to drive when they finally decide to fix their ills.

once the new ozzie net rd comes out i think there will be quite a few more going to landfill, Stinger lets its own product down badly, also had heaps of dedicated members help there tech division to no avail :bang:

shame that guys probably pick up their ferraris and tell the installer " I want the best laser and radar detector" and they end up with a Stinger System when ALPs and an R3 would be (at least most people's) ideal set up

Ferraris, thats wasn't the case here in OZ we have different encounters to USA and the the Stinger was the only one to cover most K incl low and ultra low power rd encounters, its there updates where Stinger stung themselves in the ass

Here is what I don't get from this thread:
If is the recent updates that have people hating what's happening with Stinger right now, why not roll back to a (much) earlier version that did work?
I've seen a ton of posts where people said how great their VIP was, well why not just roll back to that firmware that was working so well? Would be easy to get the files for it...

not just as simple, the early older gatso k band the Stinger left everything else in the dust, but as Australia started updating with very low power mrct, then mrcd plus we got more sneaky very low power units, the MRCT Stinger did very well on that front as we sent logs to there techs, now we have drifted backwards on the new later cams, and all the logs sent in nothing really happens leaving us guys badly wanting may when they do release the update we will have some coverage and they get a grip on the bsm car monitoring, so what they did earlier was great and we still have good coverage so rolling back dont help,

And I would be back when mine would completely ignore 35.5.

Ah ok, so the area you’re in had new threats emerge that the updated FW didn’t address (properly). Gotcha.

It just seems very strange, as I remember early VIP tests where it was murdering Redline, STIR O, etc on all three bands of Ka, every time. And now these days it’s talked about like it doesn’t even work lol.

If it could kill those detectors then, there is no reason it can’t still do so now, no?
Unless all the issues are related to K band and low power radar and not Ka band.

no because they cant release a decent fw up grade, every one they release just creates more probs , thats the reason we all pissed OFF, we have sent log after log its a looooooooong story, good product rd side cant speak for laser run ALP, time and effort by the members falls on deaf ears :bang::bang:

It would be a dream if installers were to reccomend ALP/Stinger. Here, K40 is all the rage. Installers hype up a fake video of it jamming DETC and the customers are sold. Stinger used to be amazing, but them venting into standard radar was their downfall. It really does seem like they've stopped giving a crap. Only if we could go back even a few years..

It seems with Stinger, they seem to do one thing perfectly for a period of time, concentrate on something else then drop the ball on the previous item, for me their laser was pretty decent against all hand helds and Poliscan's, but now we have another fixed laser threat, they really seem to not care and quite unresponsive due to their concentration on radar.
I'm seriously loosing patience with the system, once the international version of Netradar becomes available, unless Stinger get something out quick smart I'll be making the switch as I say will most other Aussies.

It would be a fantastic RD if they had the firmware working like it should. Most of the time, it was close to my Redline. Once, the VIP sniffed out a sneaky NCHP I/O and the Redline was silent until he hit me in the kill zone.

I just could not ever trust running it alone. One trip in Va, I had a VSP sitting in the median and I had taken down the Redline. VIP...... nothing. I flip around and just hold the Redline below the dash and 35.5. Then after several updated firmwares, I watched it lockout a Va Sheriff running K band on a backroad. I know no RD is perfect. But, stuff like that is completely unacceptable in any high-end RD.

    That’s fair, for sure.

In two weeks I’ll be installing Stinger dual in my new car, along with triple front laser from them.
I’m excited to see how it performs in Edmonton.

I’m pretty confident it’ll be a good fit for me there, however I also have an R3 that will be my secondary detector in that car.
It was between this and the upcoming new NET radar dual, however no screen for the NET radar is a deal breaker. Don’t want to have to rely on my phone for a screen.
