This is the first I've heard DPS running 33.8. My experiences have always been 34.7. Well this is good to know. Thanks!

Yeah Jag42 ran into some county mounty running 33.8 a while ago, can't recall exactly where, but that's the only confirmed 33.8 in the state (certainly in the area) that I had heard about.

I never ran into DPS running 33.8 but that sure changed. I showed 2 hits on 33.8 and both of them were sitting there.

Houston PD & Harris County SO do each use laser.

From my recent YaV1 activity logs: Columbus PD K 24.13. Manor PD K 24.12. Llano SO K 24.126.

West University Place inside Houston is like Olmos Park, they'll stop and hassle a driver for anything over PSL.

BTW, never pay a speeding ticket for only one or two mph over PSL. Set it for trial, the prosecutor will dismiss it. Those are B.S. tickets.

By the way, I ran into a Bandera County unit running at 24.084 recently. That's pretty low. I can't imagine they're keeping their stuff tuned/certified.

So late this afternoon I ended up running door to door for a while with one of the Helotes PD Explorers with 35.5 (big square antenna hanging from the top of the windshield or leading edge of the headliner). Turns out he picked up a very annoying new trick: I/O. He was kind of selective but not extremely so. Extremely annoying and something to remember.

Not sure if this post is still receiving attention, but I thought I’d contribute. All last night I ran into multiple Bexar County SO’s blasting 34.7 near Helotes. While on an access road, I had a hidden BCSO hit me with laser.

Where was the laser hit, and how was it set up? Do you have any idea what gun was being used?

Not 100% sure to be honest. It was dead of night, the r3 started picking up on his 34.7, once it was at almost full ramp up, I could finally see his white Suburban, then Laser. Once we were passing him I could see his door was open, it didn’t look like a Pro Laser III, it was all black, with two big viewfinders/laser ports. Sorry for using bad terminology lol.

I travel through Helotes on Hwy 16 from the Pipe Creek area occasionally. Seems like most always run into at least a BCSO or Helotes PD running 34.7. I've noticed Helotes PD using I/O more often, but usually the BCSO always running constant on. In 3 years, I've yet to ever be hit by laser, although I do run an LI system on my truck. I was starting to think laser wasn't an issue in this area. Good to know.

Yeah, I had the same mindset. I’m really thinking of adding laser protection at this point. My friend saw a BCSO parked in the Helotes HomeDepot parking lot and thought he’d ask him what he was running. The LEO enthusiastically showed him his radar and laser set up. If only my friend had taken note of the specific models he had....

Oh man I wish he had!

I saw a BCSO with his door open shooting laser off the side of the road just south of the new Schott's on 16 past Helotes. Here's a video. Look on the opposite side of the road just before/under the big white billboard right before the Schott's Shell station and meat market....

I just wanted to add a quick update to what @210superspeeder had previously mentioned about Alamo Heights PD. Today marked the second time I had witnessed one of their Ford Explorers blaring 35.5. I've only lived in the area for a few months now, and had previously only witnessed K 24.1 ish. (I have videos of both if necessary). Any reason for this switch/nuance? Could it be to replace an old unit or is it likely that they're making the switch to Ka?

Who knows? Maybe they got a grant or they just wanted to try something different on a new car. If you’re really interested, there may be contracts and purchasing agreements available publicly, or with an information request.

Sorry for rambling about the same department over and over again! Just wanted to confirm, AHPD is indeed using both K and Ka.

Don’t forget K-band still exists in some Constable Tahoes and also yesterday I confirmed it on a BCSO motorcycle.
