It appears the DFR7 firmware can be flashed to the LRD950. Take heed: This most likely voids your warranty! You can get the firmware here: http://unidensupport.com/DFR7

I did it and it works fine for me. I have one of the LRD950 that falls within the serial # range that can use the fancy power cord. I'm not sure if this matters for the firmware to work.

This is what I did, although I'm not sure the install order matters.
1) Using DFR7 firmware update manager, flash 1.00 sub
2) Using DFR7 firmware update manager, flash 1.00 main
3) Using DFR7 database update manager, flash 10/04/2016 cameras database

Well, I just risked my LRD950 on 1.51 which didn't fall into the serial # range for the smart cord, and it updated fine.

It retained all my menu programing, and seems to add 'Ka filter' and 'TSF Filter' to the options. I don't remember that being there before :)

GPS connects fine - need to take it for a drive now, see if it really works

Yeah, awesome find. I am assuming no issues? Should every 950 owner do this upgrade?

Interesting.

I'm barely technologically literate and just recently changed my firmware from 1.37 to 1.23 to see if I could get any difference in range.

What would be the benefits to me of this change?

Been for a drive, although short. It still remembers my marked falses, and quiet ride settings.

As I've come from 1.51 on the 950, I'm expecting this to be pretty similar in performance. I might try to test against my Raptor RP-1 k band tomorrow, and flash back to 1.51 LRD 950 firmware to see if there is a difference. No Ka band here, so no way to test.

Waiting on Vortex to do some testing between fw's... Alberta is getting too cold for testings... :D

Seems to have dl'd just fine onto one of my LRD950s. I know which detector I'll be driving to work with today. ;)

Nice find! I doubt it would hurt your warranty there basically the same radar right?

I NOW HAVE A DFR7 !! with latest db !! :p:

Thanks tsumeone !!!

Thanks for FURTHURING our cause !! and taking one for the Team to advance our skillsets !!

AWESOME !!

btw: Some Notes

the DBupdateManager is a separate app than the UpdateManager !!

I flashed the LRD950 to FW v1.51 FIRST with the LRD950 UpdateManager THEN I updated the LRD to DFR7 using the DFR7 UpdateManager and DFR7 UpdateDBmanager

Now Time to TEST !! Move over RPSE and V1/Yav1 and Redline and Net Radar.

I hear the lrd950/DFR7 does NOT play nicely with other detectors !!

Flashing my 950 to DFR7 for the commute tomorrow. Hopefully the portable X band speed sign is still there.

LRD950 FW1.37
Is now
DFR7 FW1.00

All files flashed successfully, I appreciate having the extra menu settings and especially an updated RL/SC Database

Thanks tsumeone for starting the thread, and thanks Vortex for doing the youtube video:
