So first and foremost, I didn't get a chance to look at the site before hand, but did look at it on Google maps. It was 3.7 miles of roadway, but fairly hilly. From the shooting location to the first hill was ~.7 mi away and ~50 ft high. This was a complete failure on finding the longest distance on radar because nearly every single radar detector could not see 33.8 or 34.7 (we saw no point in testing K or 35.5 because of the previous results) beyond the hill. The other interesting find was how far radar could see. As soon as people came over the hill, both 33.8 and 34.7 could reach out to the car. I haven't seen a lot of testing of this and I hope to do more in the future.

For 33.8, Saleen5000's Redline saw the furthest (~1.3 mi), but that is most likely because his car's windshield glass isn't as thick as CobawLT2010's and bkayrac's windshield. The Max was second at 1.2 mi and the rest, Net radar behind the grill (which you don't want to do), Redline, Magnum, V1 (stock and customer sweeps), and Uniden 950, all saw 33.8 and 34.7 right as they came over the hill at the .7-.8 mi mark.

Now for the LIDAR portion:

Those of you who said you were coming but did not show, well, perhaps next time?

Nice tests. The results show the importance of getting the ALPs just right so they can handle the DET.

Hm is it because of my windshield or is my Redline hot? :D I can send it out if you'd like to do some more testing since I couldn't stay the whole time.

It was a pleasure to meet all of you guys!

I'm fairly certain because your windshield is thinner than newer cars.

So there were multiple tests today. I noticed the date in both threads and assumed they were the same.

Yes, two different tests yesterday, though, it would be fun to test with the guys out there.

Also as an FYI. The shooter was on the passenger side of the road for the rear shots, and driver side for front shots.

Don't buy a car with large wraparound headlights and turn signals on the mirror if you don't want pts at ~300ft :-(

Thank you neighbors for the testing :)

I wish I could've driven there but I had a few things going on here in Minnesota. Hopefully next one!

@KeithB actually came from quite a distance to get tested. And he came prepared with cold drinks and a cooler that he shared. Hard to complain about that, because it got hot once the sun came out :p

Also, I still say I have a freakishly hot max. It always seems to perform well at every test. especially considering it's a max :p....Sadly the hill really ruined our radar testing.

I was surprised by hill too. I had thought in previous years with my trips, my radar detectors had seen radar over a hill. I wonder if it is just with one this high that we had this issue? I was also surprised to see how far radar can actually clock a vehicle too.

Even though the previous test course had quite a few hills, none of them were this long or steep. We did not have trouble seeing radar over hills previously. This one was especially brutal, along with the one at the rest area in Walworth County!

I suppose while the test vehicles are descending the long hill going toward the radar, they might actually have a larger radar cross section, as opposed to heading toward it on more level ground. The angles are different of course so that has an effect too.

That's everyone else out in the Seattle area. I don't know of anyone in the midwest group that has one.
MNBadger has the stinger but he wasn't present.
