So, we rarely hear anything from the GT-7 owners. I know kasher1979 mentioned he liked his during the testing phase, but not very much from others who have purchased the unit. Is it better now since the newest update? What kind of range is it getting compared to other WS mounted units? Or, is it so bad, no one wants to talk about it? (Sarcasm) Really, I want to know if it's something to recommend to newer members.

Very good question. I tested it for them and really liked the unit a lot. But as for the filtering that would be interesting to see if any updates have improved it.

I agree. If we're going to recommend detectors, we should have more input from the ones who use them. I think that would be helpful to the forum.

I guess there are no GT-7 owners in the forum?
Vortex had one as well. CJR238 also...

Nothing to get excited about when it's just a repackaged Max2 under a Bel moniker. Watch for it soon on jet or woot...

My full review is here: https://www.rdforum.org/showthread.php?t=48037

I only like it a little over the Max series because of the boxy look and design. The new firmware update put it on par with my Max as far as BSM filtering, range is very similar.

The only reason its not may daily RD is no arrows and K band is not enough for the roads i drive since i do encounter K band now and then.

I use the gt-7 coming from a vector 6 its a pretty amazing upgrade. Having the tech display help tremendously for determine if state, local, are sheriff. Bsm false are almost non existent even in heavy traffic. Range in my experience is plenty not considering I/o which in that case one's ability to use the detector comes in to play and paying attention to your surroundings. low volume traffic ....slow down lol. But all in all im very pleased with the detector and gives plenty of range in real world test.

Actually, the M5 based units are pretty quick on IO and that should not be a concern.

Yeah the GT-7 is fine. Basically just a reskinned Max with a new name, case, and sounds. Performance is the same as the Max.

Have the K band inconsistencies CJR238 mentioned in his review been resolved?

TSR effected the GT7 quite a bit, especially with low powered K band. With TSR off it was much better. And with the updated BSM filtering TSR isn't a must as much. Wonder what others thoughts are?

I believe it should be included in some WS testing post FW upgrades. The Magnum is built identically to the Redline, yet we see difference in performance based on terrain.

RadarScout, must only be a very few running these as their daily or the ones that do have not seen your thread. I would think there would be a few more chime in unless it's just not that popular. I know it's been mentioned that it is a reskinned Max but you would think with a large numbers of users we could get more feedback. This is one of the ones I know nothing about first hand but have read the initial reviews by a couple of advanced users but then it has all but disappeared as you have pointed out from the conversation.

Yeah, I'm thinking it must have been a flop in sales to our members. But, I wanted to know.
I sold less than 5 units total. It basically a Max in an orange case. Max was discontinued and sold in the $300's so why pay more for a similiar GT7.

My thinking for the reason the price dropped was due to the fact of no longer being updated. Its like buying outdated technology and wondering why its no longer compatible. The gt-7 is now beltronics flagship so it will get all the updates and attention.. Whenever I was looking for a detector I did a fair amount of research. The max 360 wasn't up to par on performance from the videos I saw. The m3's didn't have the filtering I wanted and I wanted and windshield mount so I could move it from car to car. I also wanted something from a reputable company with a good history of service and something I could count on for at least 4 yrs. My Vector 6 still works and its 5yrs old. When I considered those things there was really only option. The gt-7. Those things may not be of concern to some people and that's okay but for me those were must haves.

Actually the Max was being updated up to even the day is was discontinued. And probubly will continue to be since is basically a Max2 with BT being the only difference.

But i agree, i prefer to invest in something more current and will be around for a decent life cycle.

But would you pay $200 more for the same detector in a different case? We still have several Max units at $349.95, I would not spend $500 for a unit that would perform the same. Eventually when the Max units dry up and if they dont drop the price on the Max 2 there will probably be new life for the GT-7's.

Different case (that i liked) and not discontinued more than likely yes. Though i agree saving $200 would be more logical since they preform the same and do the same thing, plus its not like Escort is not going to stop servicing it any time soon.

I sold my 950 because it was discontinued and wont buy a DFR7 because they will have something "new" soon.

This is true it would have been nice to save some money but again the max has had problem with durability and I wasn't sure about longevity and ultimately i was worried about a year down the road was it going to be a problem but to each his own. For those that are asking about the update. yes it did help the filtering I run autonox tsr off and rarely do i get a false. especially in my daily commute where all the stationary falses are locked out. I know a lot of members here don't mind doing the phone pairing thing for v1 app. That just wasn't an viable option for me. And ironically that's always been the detector I wanted. but I knew I needed gps lockouts though and that would require a phone to be paired with the v1.
