Hi All, I hope everyone is well. I'm new to this forum and have already read some very helpful threads. I am now the owner of a very shinny new Valentien one, and appreciate the vast difference between here (the UK) and the states, however the Valentine one is not that common here. Firstly I have checked and confirm that the unit is set up in Euro mode, I have hardwired it into my Audi A6 Black Edition with ISO bluetooth. My QUESTIONS:

What I [THINK] I understand so far:-

Here in the UK mainly K & Ku bands are used for speed detection.
X Band - Causes most false warnings but rarely now used in the UK - X Band ranges between 10.5 and 10.55 GHz K Band - Traffic light sensors and some automatic door openers use K Band transmitters so a false alarm result when approaching these devices. Police radar guns in the UK use 24.050 to 24.250 GHz).?
Ka Band - 34.2-35.2 GHz, Police using new radar detection in the UK

My Question's bering in mind I'm using an iPhone over bluetooth and the V1 app..!

I've noticed most false alarms are on K band between 24.074 & 24.180, as this frequency is around the same as the UK radar detection I'm assuming there is nothing I can do to silence it..?
Savvy is built into the V1 app but I do not have the Savvy unit, does this matter? Will Savvy on the app still work. If so this would reduce the notification of K band false alerts at a set speed, say 30mph..?
Ive passed a few speed cameras today and not one of them gave a warning, i understand they use K band. Is it simply that there are not working or do I have my Valentine set up wrong. Obviously the more I use it the more I will become used to the band, signals strengths and so on.

Any help or advice would really be welcomed.
:):):)

Welcome to RDF. I'm not familiar with the threats and falses in the UK, but my guess is you're going to encounter falses inside K-band like we do in North America that are still within the frequency range of legitimate police radar.

Savvy will require the savvy unit unless you emulate it with an app like StealthAssist or ask mswlogo if you can join the beta of V1Driver. Alternatively a lot of members purchase a cheap android phone to keep in their car and use YaV1. Both V1Driver and YaV1 will provide GPS based lockouts which will help quiet the V1 down immensely.

Sorry I can't chime in on the speed cameras, hopefully some other members can help there.

Hi mikedodt, and thanks for the reply. I have taken your advice and tried StealthAssist on IOS. What a difference.......... setting it to the local speed limit in the city (30mph), One beep and thats it. Wish I'd of researched the YaVi app before ordering the bluetooth module of the iPhone, I may have to order the Android one soon and try YaVi as there are so many tutorials on the app. I still haven't found one fixed speed camera (Gatso) that sets of K Band in my area. Round trip of 420 miles today mostly on the motorway, again surprised by how many overhead speed cameras don't set of the K.

Again any additional help would be really appreciated.

I've noticed similar with mine, not all Gatsos will set it off however bear in mind they're not all radar and they're not all turned on.

I do believe the motorway cameras that don't set off the K are indeed inactive but I have yet to be caught in one of the enforced 'variable speed limits' since owning mine (and you can see they're all active from the regular flashes visible from the other carriageway :( )

I'm trying to work out if I can turn off Ka or not but apparently the police are now starting to use it so I'm not sure now.

The Gatso units that the local gendarmes here use are mobile (mounted inside a vehicle that they then park on the side of the road) also never give me a single blip of a signal. I assumed they were photo speed units. (I just learned they were Gatsos yesterday.)

I don't worry too much because they are announced daily where they will be parked, are on the side of the road in a sizable and marked sport utility vehicle and I figure running Waze will help point then out. (I probably should do more research on Gatso.)

I ran the V1 Connect app and V1 Driver. I still have a Savvy and a BOB unit with a Concealed Display. I installed the regular Bluetooth module, bought an inexpensive Android phone and am running YaV1. I couldn't be happier. I actually appreciate having a second display instead of having to tie up my iPhone. However my setup and experience doesn't always work for others.

Once you get more into the custom sweeps and the speed muting, you will find the V1 an absolute joy.

In my country SINGAPORE these are the fixed/mobile camera which my V1 cannot pick up. Any custom settings to recommend. Thank you.

Quite a few different ones there.
A few are laser based technologies, especially the ones hand-held by the gentlemen in blue- image 5.
I also see what looks like a Redflex - Image4
Image1 - just looks like traffic/lane monitoring cams. LInk below confirms they are point to point, so can be used to issue you a fine. A detector cannot be used against this.
IMage 3 - looks like GATSO to me - confirmed below.
Image 2 = redlight camera, these can be radar based or just a camera on a loop to the traffic light.

Few links which you may have already come across

The last link tells me something like WAZE would be very useful in Singapore.
The V1 will not be very effective in most of the above situations, but something like JBV1 + WAZE + V1 could be useful.
You will need a relatively new V1 and a V1 LE.

Is VVaze legal in Singapore? That's a very tightly screwed down country.
But the dude is right, V1/BTLE and JBV1 will give you best protection. CSA alerts via vvaze are more reliable through JBV1. I had one on JBV1 last Sunday that was silent on vvaze.
