I’m surprised to hear this. As I reported in a different thread, I emailed Stinger US about something unrelated and got a response in 10min. They even followed up later and thanked me for being a customer.

I certainly don't mind you sharing it with Stinger, although most credit goes to @Vortex for starting this collection of settings information.

It would be great if Stinger could comment and improve their documentation of these settings. Some settings have changed since this was created, so having more information would be good.
That is why I call it VORTEX'S MANUAL
You can look at my Dropbox
But if you have any problems with this . I will remove it.
I had made an excelsheet a year ago and submitted it to Marcel.

I thought this article of Vortex - I only discovered it yesterday - is excellent.

So you tell me . Do I remove it ?
( Put it out of sight of coarse, I am certainly not going to delete this excellent piece of work )

I had a discussion with Marcel about my Excel so if vortex wants, I guess he can have a chat with Marcel to.
How do they say in English British, it's quite an amical chap.
I am really sorry about this.
And now I am disgusted, and feel the urge to leave this site.

You look at the link in my signature

I give ALL CREDIT to VORTEX !!!!
I EVEN CALL IT VORTEX'S VIP GUIDE

I do the same in the mail to stinger
And mention this site to Marcel. If he would care to have a look around here.

I propose you don't lose the purpose out of sight- enhancing understanding -

I submitted Vortex Manual for VIP Settings to my vip technician SJOERD from carlife.nl with the question to complete it where possible and i got the following reply , the booklet is almost completely the original booklet , I Replied the guys in Heidelberg Germany did not give me a booklet a installation Time.
So as a result i asked Marcle from Stinger HQ Holland if i could have a booklet sent to me.
He said the manual we have is the QUICK MANUAL. this contains the most important functions and is not complete . By purpose , as firmware updates modify the menu , not every detail is part of this QUICK MANUAL.
I will share what was electronically shared by Marcel - and he will be sending me an booklet by mail - , i don't know it is of any use , i don't expect it to be as complete as VORTEX's but ok .
Here is the mail from Marco from carlife.nl, from [email protected] and finally the booklet

As i will be installing the direct to fuse cable from the GENEVO MAX shortly by SJOERD from carlife.nl , i will try to get more info about the VORTEX manual , sjoerd was heavily involved in testing the stinger fibers , so i hope to get additional info there.

hope this was usefull

More documentation on the Stinger VIP is certainly welcome! Would it be possible to request an English version of the booklet?

I asked Marcel again for a translated version , and again a request to complete if possible the VORTEX'S MANUAL
If i look at the name of the file : VIP_A6BOEKJE_NL....
I expect a manual to exist VIP_A6boekje_EN...

we will see what gives

Any information about Stinger and its operational quirks is useful since the company is somewhat reticent in providing explanations unless prodded firmly. Please keep up your useful information. For those not so keen, they may simply skip onto their next interest.

Let's hope marcel answers ,if not I will ask sjoerd - from carlife.nl , dealer from stinger, and the one responsible for the upgrade of mystinger and install of direct to fuse cable for the GENOVO-max - if he would care to elaborate.
He is very involved into the stinger testing and a real enthousiast .
Sorry to include mail-screenshot !! ;-) ;-)

In the mean time I asked a question concerning installing a HD antenne at the rear and how this should be done an at what price .
Reaction of stinger follows ( traduction dutch English by Google )

The VORTEX- questionnaire has also been sent on papermail . I am awaiting answer there.

++++++

Dear Mr. De Decker, We do not know this question, but are happy to answer your questions: An extra HD antenna on the rear does not really make sense in Europe.

Possibly in France it can be useful, because it is suspected that people are driving around with speed control equipment in cars. So people no longer stand static with roadside equipment, but are built into cars. If you drive past such a car, an extra HD at the rear may make sense.

An antenna in the rear is especially useful in the US.

Question 2: that is more of a question for an installer to find a solution for. Our general instruction is: a radar antenna must be behind flat and thin plastic, for example in the bumper. And there must be sufficient air cooling around the antenna.

Question 3: A radar set for the rear currently costs € 995 incl. VAT, advice consumer price excluding installation of your dealer. Kind regards, Stinger Team Tel. +31 (0) 252 418 095. P.O. Box 132, 2160 AC Lisse, The Netherlands www.stinger.com image On Feb. 16 2020, at 09:37 Telenet

This in answer of my following questions:

<[email protected]> wrote the following: @Marco, @Marcel from STINGER I repeat my
question: 1. Does it make sense to mount an HD towards the rear? Additional security or info for the STINGER VIP.

2. If useful, how can this be placed in an AMG CLA45 body anyway. Because it is completely closed. Or does this have to be mounted in a special housing under the car?

3. And if possible and useful what is the cost. @Marco:

4. I don't think I'll wait two years to have my AMG CLA45 chip tuned by you, what does it cost and what is the gain. See you soon Thank you R.

Is it true that radar detectors are forbidden?
Yes that's right. Radar detectors are prohibited in the Netherlands.
Up to and including 2003, radar detectors in the Netherlands were completely legal. On 1 January 2004, however, a change was made to the Vehicle Regulations prohibiting the use, presence of a radar detector in a motor vehicle, and also the trade in radar detectors.
But isn't Stinger known for its radar detectors?
Yes, but that comes from the past.
In 1990, Stinger launched the first working radar detector in the Netherlands. AutoVisie immediately elevated it to "Control Cracker". In the years that followed, Stinger did not sit still and Stinger developed great radar detectors with great success. Among other things, the legendary Delta and Ventura became the favorite companion of many Dutch motorists.
Why are Stingers legal?
Stingers have always been legal because Stinger has completely stopped supplying radar detectors even before the 2004 radar detector ban and then proceeded to produce and deliver a self-developed computer platform.
When the radar detector ban came into force, a number of Dutch traders of radar detectors designed and produced abroad tried to stop the ban through the courts. She did not succeed.
Stinger is a Dutch company that also designs and produces its products here. Since the ban on radar detectors in 2004, Stinger has of course no longer supplied or designed a radar detector. Nevertheless, Stinger has continued to provide motorists in the Netherlands (and in a growing number of other European countries) with superior warning equipment: Stinger had already taken into account many years in advance a possible Dutch ban when Stinger started designing a computer in early 2000 the car. Stinger has done this in such a way that the Stinger car computer in every country can make optimum use of the techniques allowed there to legally protect against speed checks.
Thanks to this vision, immediately after the radar detector ban came into effect, Stinger was able to start delivering the first offspring of this new generation of warning equipment: the Stinger Driver, Safety & Information Computer, or the Stinger DSI Computer. The Stinger Card has recently been added to the program.
What can the current Stingers generation do?
As you would expect from Stinger, the Stinger DSI and the Stinger Card excel in protecting against speed controls. But there's more.
Europe is a legal patchwork when it comes to speed control warning rules, but thanks to the computer, the flexible software and the easy-to-connect modules, the new Stingers can make optimal use of all legally available techniques to fully meet the capabilities of the local protect current legislation against speed controls. These techniques can therefore differ from country to country and, for example, do not include Radar Alarms in the Netherlands, but do include Laser Alarms, SpotList Alarms and Trajectory Control Alarms.

Via Stinger's very user-friendly Stinger Desktop program (for Mac and PC), all new Stinger equipment can be managed and updated very easily. If you have ever connected an iPod or iPhone to your computer, you already know how to do this. But the new Stinger computers offer you more than superior protection against speed controls. Stinger has paid a lot of attention to providing serious safety functions. Stingers are able to warn you of road works and outgoing schools, for example, when so-called SafetySignal transmitters are used at those locations. And all cars equipped with Stinger Laser can automatically warn each other when there is sudden sudden braking. And what do you think of PoliceCheck, a fully integrated system to check whether a received speed ticket is correct. The DSI Computer is also a professional and tax-approved RitRegistratie system that is very easy to read and edit with the included Stinger Desktop software.
Are all Stinger modules also legal?
Yes, all Stinger modules are also completely legal.
You can assemble your Stinger to your liking, simply by providing the Stinger computer in the car with 'peripheral equipment' (modules).
The Spectrum Analyzer module is a very high-quality instrument that Stinger has derived from professional laboratory and military measuring equipment. He is able to detect and analyze high frequency signals early. In the Netherlands, the Spectrum Analyzer is essential for both the reception and transmission of Safety Signals and for the analysis of radar signals for use in the PoliceCheck functionality.
The Laser module can already see from a distance if a police officer is measuring speed with a laser gun and ensure that you are immediately alerted via the Laser Alerting functionality. Laser detection is also completely legal in the Netherlands. The Laser modules also provide real-time reception and dispatch of Laser Safety Signals, in particular for warnings about hard braking traffic.
The Stinger DSI and the Stinger Card can even control the police. That's allowed ?
Yes, that is also permitted.
The DSI automatically records location, driving direction and driving speed of all times when the police may check your speed. Stinger calls that PoliceCheck. The type of control is also recorded, including: trajectory control, fixed speed camera, radar control and laser control.
In the case of radar, thanks to Stinger's unique Spectrum Analyzer, the frequency used is also precisely defined and, in the case of Laser, even the brand and type of the laser gun used. Anyone who has ever received an unjustified ticket will understand what a unique PoliceCheck system is. And if you follow the media, then you know that wrong fines occur more than once. Thanks to your Stinger, you no longer have to be left empty-handed in such a case. In fact, a Stinger is virtually a requirement for the detection of a measurement error.
The Radar Alerting functionality is not supplied in the Netherlands. Can I use it in countries where radar detection is normally permitted?
Yes, Stinger's Radar Alerting can be used flexibly, where permitted.
Stinger does not deliver any systems with Radar Alarm functionality in connection with the radar detector ban in the Netherlands. For use in countries where radar detection is permitted, you can provide your Stinger with this functionality by means of a software download.

Before you subsequently enter a country where radar detection is not allowed, you must remove this functionality via the delete key. In this way you can continue to comply with local regulations without any problems. Removing the Radar Alerting is also really removing and you cannot switch this functionality on again with a key!
Has the government confirmed that the new Stingers are legal?
Yes, the government has that.

At the end of 2004 inspectors from the Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (VWA) conducted an investigation on behalf of the Ministry of Justice into the new Stinger DSI. After the investigation of several months (and ao conducted at TNO), the VWA stated that the Stinger fully complies with the new regulations.
The press officials have also informed the press on several occasions that the Stinger is completely legal as long as it is not equipped with the Radar Alarm functionality in the Netherlands.
The Dutch police have so-called Radar Detector Detectors. Can the new Stingers be traced (electronically)?
No, they cannot be traced with that.
As mentioned, the new Stingers are computer systems for the car and therefore not a radar detector. If the Stingers could nevertheless be traced electronically, this would of course not detract from the legality of the Stinger.

What if, for example, your telephone was detected with a Radar Detector Detector? Yet it is practically very important that Stingers cannot be detected by a Radar Detector Detector. After all, you will not be held up unnecessarily with the question whether you have a radar detector on board.
What does Stinger stand for?
Stinger is for a high degree of freedom and for personal responsibility. Stinger means its products to offer the user more driving pleasure and safety, especially by improving the ability of the driver to pay attention to traffic rather than peripheral issues. It is a thorn in Stinger's view that the large majority of fines are issued for fines of less than 10 km / h too fast, often by automated systems, without considering the circumstances. According to Stinger, and according to many traffic experts, this method of fines certainly does not benefit road safety

happy reading
i hope this will entice them to complete the questionnaire too.
