This caught my eye in a display case at Cabela's. Makes a real TSS look like a bargain, but I'm sure it offers some cool added features if you're actually using it as a rangefinder and not for CM purposes.

So can one actually use it to test? I mean if it does not get a range does it not mean that it cannot clock it either?

True, but if it looks like a TSS, chances are it'll be detected as a TSS. If it doesn't, then it depends on who actually made it. If it's made by LTI then it may use the same pulse rate as a TSS.

It's possible (and likely) that the cheaper Bushnell rangefinders are made by someone other than LTI, and those are the ones to avoid.

Avoid any range finder. Buy a cheap or expensive laser off eBay. For $150 you can get a nice marksman or ultralyte.

Agreed. Truthfully though, as other members are commenting, a real lidar gun is the way to go. I'd be a hell of a lot more inclined though to purchase a used one from one of our trusted forum members than purchase one on ebay. Certainly for a used electronic that costs hundreds of dollars. ebay is the embodiment of "let the buyer beware."

A Range Finder will not test your system properly and you will waste your money. Buy a used gun on eBay for a few hundred and you will have much better testing capability. A Jammer is not designed to block all pulses from a jammer or it will end up with Jam codes. Only one pulse is required for distance but several pulses are required to track a speed. Just because you can get a reading from a range finder does not mean your jammer will have a PT, That just means that one pulse went through without adjustment which is normal and any smart jammer will allow this so that the gun does not think its being jammed.

notblake I picked up a Bushnell Scout DX 1000 ARC today on craigslist and the results are all over the place.

Stationary standing about 50 feet or less away on the front I was able to get range readings from the fog lights intermittently but not the headlights, emblem or flat surfaces. On the rear it did not jam at all. I was able to get range readings from the licence place and taillights.

I had someone drive my car up and down a flat straight road trying JFG and JTG and the ALP's did not jam it once. I would always getting a distance measurement. Im not sure if it was on the first click or not, I was spamming the button, but always got a distance, even at 1,000 yards.

Disclaimer: Only having had my ALP's installed for a month I have not had them tested with an actually lidar gun yet. All I think this says so far is that this device can be used to trigger the ALP's, make sure each head is receiving and transmitting.

Here are pictures of my sensor placement for reference: https://goo.gl/photos/gUroAJsDwUZKQjX2A

If I'm not mistaken, that is expected as real LIDAR will shoot multiple times before it can get a reading. Since you are in the states I believe you can get someone to test your setup instead of relying on that.

Though if you do have fog lights chances are that it may cause PT

FYI . . . on the question of whether all laser rangefinders will trigger shifters. . .
I have a Sig Sauer Kilo 2000 Rangefinder. My LIs cannot pick up its signal, let alone jam it.

And yes, the shifters are operational as they alert at every vitronic poliscan seed camera I approach.

My Leupold rangefinder will set off windshield mounts' laser alerts, because nobody in the detector-only game takes laser seriously enough to be constantly updating firmware to reflect new and different LIDAR guns. But whether it tries to jam a rangefinder or not doesn't seem to be a legitimate way to judge parking sensors.

Hi. I recently picked up a Precision Pro Golf NX7 rangefinder for $250 and it works fine for me. Pretty simple, 6x magnification; more accurate than I am :).
The adaptive slope technology can be turned on and off though, meaning this unit is still competition legal.
There are other similar brands in the same price range.
